Music

Just something I thought might make for some interesting conversation,

I'm dealing with what I think is depression at the moment. For me, music has been a big part of how I cope. It's like therapy. It might not be that way for everyone, but for those who do, I was wondering what bands and/or songs you listen to. For me, I tend to listen to a lot of Imagine Dragons and a bit of Simple Plan. I can relate to a lot of it really well.

Interested to hear your thoughts,

Jack

Hi Jack

Great topic! I love my music and I agree with what you have said that it can be wonderfully therapeutic....one of the best coping mechanisms I have known. My bands are probably too daggy but I still love the Eagles....Boston...Simple Minds...Pretenders....and I could on and on 🙂 I think I have approx 10,000 tracks that I use to help myself depending on how I feel at the time.

What an Excellent and positive topic!

Hey Jack and Paul

I think that the use of music in recovery is such a wonderful conversation to have! I just wanted to share some of my experiences with you. I have the most wonderful profession as a registered music therapist and use music to help people to improve aspects of their health, functioning and wellbeing. I also use music listening and songwriting to support my own recovery with GAD and social phobia. There is no doubt that listening to music on an iPod can be the ultimate 'sonic tonic'.

I LOVE both of your music choices!!! My go to at the moment is the new Lumineers album.
