Hi community
I've sort of decided I may take action against a bank and insurance company as my claim has not been approved and is most likely going to be declined.
My husband is managing most of it for me now but it's going to take a lot of my energy....
is is it worth it??? I'm torn the being brave rising strong 💪🏻 voice is saying go for it! But the common sense more educated voice about mental health is saying slow down.
I dont want to 'give up' as I want to drive mental health awareness and education in the community but I don't want to further put undue pressure on myself.
Any suggestion?
Cheers

Never underestimate the good you may do, because as soon as anyone does get a policy they will take your money, no questions asked, but as soon as you claim then they try and find anyway not to pay out.
There are certain solicitors who handle cases like this, which unfortunately I am unable to mention their names because of the rules for being on this site, but phones calls would help you find out.
Over my time I have learnt that if you are denied any claim or need to adjust an utility statement then it has to be done, otherwise they will keep getting away with it.
For your health I wouldn't ask your husband too many questions because the more want to know is only going to cause you more mental illness, I know that you will want to know because that's all your thinking about, just take it easy.
With myself I have taken out a life insurance policy but wanted to update my personals and then subsequently being rejected.
I am very interested in this so please keep in touch. Geoff. x

Thanks for your words.
Yes right track of thinking.
What gives me the strength is doing this #risingstrong #beingbrave reading this book by brene brown and although I'm only reading a couple of pages a day it's given me the strength to push forward.
Mostly im doing this for myself and my family and then secondly I want to raise awareness and help the BB community via education in the community.
Its actually not even about the financial return I think I would donate a portion if successful however it's about the ethics and respect around the situation. What really tipped me over the edge was somebody laughing at me from the insurance company.
Point ☝🏼 if someone gives you shit you don't need to take it we all need to treat each other with respect and dignity. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
So so on that POSITIVE note happy Monday!!!! 💪🏻

Hello Yoga
Welcome to the forum. I can relate to your dilemma a little as I am in the middle of a situation where I need to make decisions on a tricky matter. Yes, we all need to treat each other with respect. If this happened what a wonderful world we would live in. My situation is not about raising awareness but about justice.
I want to draw your attention to another book by Brené Brown. The title is The Gifts of Imperfection. I have not read your book so I cannot comment on it. This is about individuals and their coping with vulnerability, courage, worthiness and shame. May not be useful for your current journey but may help with any aftermath. A friend of mine was refused private medical insurance because the insurer insisted she had a mental illness, which is certainly not in DSM IV. This was many years ago and I believe they would not get away with it today.
Good luck in your quest.
Mary

Thanks max this is helpful I definitely need to stop I'm in that 'flight mode' and it's bad I've got ulsers all in my mouth my gums are so sore and white the stress is taking its toll so I've decided to stop not only for myself but for my carers it's not fair. How do people do this with no support? Once I'm 'better' I would love to hold a fundraiser to raise money for Beyond Blue xo they need more funding xo
im taking a break from social media too (or trying to it's hard lol)

Hi All
looks like i wont won't have a job post today. Either I'll resign or we will end on an 'positive' note.
Anyways on a positive note Beyond Blue help line has been great. Thankful for all the beautiful people out there.
im so disappointed in so much but I'm choosing to focus on the positive. The sun is shining. I'm breathing.

Hi Yoga,
I'm sorry to hear about your job - hopefully today went alright, and tensions weren't too high.
That's great that the Beyondblue helpline has been a useful support. You sound resilient and determined to make the best of your situation, so good on you.
By the way, what about yoga has had such a lasting impact? I've tried it before, and enjoyed it, but had to stop when I pulled a group of muscles in one of my legs. I think I was getting a bit enthusiastic, and not building up my flexibility gradually! haha
Best wishes,
Zeal

Hi Zeal
thanks for commenting.
Yoga has changed my life because it's the one place I can be me. It's not for everyone I have some friends that love it and others that can't stand it.
Sounds like you you enjoyed it.?
Just find a teacher you like and follow them that's my 'advice'
cheers
