File report request help?

I received my file notes after a lot of back and forth with my previous psychologist.
I have found them to be illegible though.

Can I request my previous psychologist to type these file notes so they are readable.

If she says no, which I’m expecting, what should I say to her?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Dear Lee13~

To the best of my knowledge the notes a medical professional makes when involved in a case remain their property and are part of a medical record. They should be seen by the client (yourself) on request. This does vary I believe between states.

The best reference I can find is here

https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/health-information/access-your-health-information/

Under normal circumstances it is reasonable to require a written (legible) medical record, which is a professional document, and for which you can be charged.

It sounds as if you have a win in just obtaining the notes. While there is nothing to stop you requesting a more readable copy I'd not be disappointed if that was refused, or a charge made.

If you run into trouble I'd seek advice from your local Health Ombudsman.
