Hi, I would like to hear what other people have to say about Dyslexia and learning disabilities?
I am 45yr old,was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 38,stayed in hospital for 8 weeks, and I was put on medication for ADHD when I was 42.
6mths ago I discovered I have discovered that I am Dyslexic and or learning disabilities.(undiagnosed by professionals) I don't know a huge lot about and find I am going around in circles.
What I'm struggling with is what to do about it,
where to go for advice,
is it common with mental health,
other people's stories,
This is all new to me any advice would be great

Hi 9s
Mostly just work, haven't had much time to get on to BB and check the threads. Though oftentimes I miss not being able to at least read the latest threads, to see how everyone is treading along, but I must admit that sometimes these mini-breaks gives my mind the time it needs to unwind from itself.
The best thing is that I haven't been bored enough to watch a sport I don't get.
How are you pal>?

Hey,
yeah Im getting a bit overwhelmed here.
I feel things are changing with me, I think it's time I take control and stop doing everything that's not appreciated.
maybe I might go play netball again 😳

Netball?
I've heard of that. It's like basketball, but
- No running
- No dribbling
- No jump shots
- No backboard
- And no idea how that game works.
Enjoy your game.
The sports I do understand are:
- The Iditarod
- Hockey (not kind adapted for grass, but the real one... the one on the ice)
- International Football (FIFA)
- Chess (yes, chess is a sport)
take care

My husband and son both have a dyslexic brain structure. Each is different but similar enough that they process problems in a similar way. They are fantastically creative and great 'on the spot' problem solvers.
I explained to our son's English teacher, that teaching him in the 'normal' way, is a bit like saying to him,"well you've got a duck's beak but you're a bit of a 'rubbish' duck."
to which he now repiles, "I have a duck bill because I'm a platypus, and I'm going to be the best platypus can be."
Best book Ever, "The Dyslexic Advantage", by Brock and Fernette Eide, MD,MA

Thanks so much for your post.
