I have had an increase in my anxiety wirh some depression through menopause. We are leaving to go to UK Scotland next Monday and are meeting friends over there. It has been very stressful planning rhis trip as our friends want to pre-book every attraction and even some meaks before we go. My husband and i are slightly more rwlaxed. It has resulted in 2 wks of phone calls between us with negotiation about whether to book ahead or not. I am also very concerned about my youngest son while we are away as he has a history of depression/suicudecattwmpt alrhough this was about 8 yrs ago. He lives independently and has a job but i always worry especially when we leave the country. I am feeling like i am not at all prepared for the trip with these concerns on my mind and a recent stomacg virus which i am recovering from. It is a sense if overwhelm where i am normally a very active, organized person. I have negative feelings about the trip and hope these thoughts are irrational because of stress and being unwell. I would appreciate thoughts of anyone else who has experienced this

Dear Luciban~
I'd like to welcome you here to the Forum, a good place to get support plus other people's views. As you are only on an overseas trip you should be able to post and read here from Scotland.
I guess tomorrow is the day you depart, and it does not sound that easy a trip. The most important thing of course is your youngest son's welfare. mind yo it sounds very hopeful he has improved greatly from 8 years ago as he now lives independently and is employed. Does he have anyone in his life he can talk with and maybe stay in contact? It might ease you mind if nothing else.
Once one gets into the habit of worrying about a loved one it is hard to relax and realize one may not need to constantly do so. In any event he can video-call you or your husband anytime if he feels down.
Having your itinerary completely mapped out for you before you start would be a real bind. There needs to be time to relax, and decide on the spot what looks good. If you are not feeling 100% then you may simply wish to stay still and soak up the atmosphere. I hope you have dissuaded your friend form booking too much.
As for how you feel about hte trip, it does take a far bit our=t of one wiht the long flights and strange places. That in itself can be unsettling, and when you add worries and feeling sub-par it is not surprising you are not looking forward to it. Still the waiting before you go is probably the hardest part and that is nearly over. When you are actually involved in the traveling (and trying to decipher Scottish TV) and talking with your friends you may well feel better.
if you would like to say how you go that wold be great
