My father has many ways of upsetting me, but always manages to surprise. Here is another one. He has given the apartment in Queensland to my brother, who has been such a good boy being married with children and all. And because he spends money on the credit cards before he earns it (despite being paid double what I am) he is so terribly poor. In comparison I look well off even though I am priced out of living in the city. Father tells me I should be happy for him. I was after all, warned to get married or be out of the will.
I am glad to have followed my grandmothers advice and to be independent of any man including my father. It shouldn't, but it does still upset me when he does these things.

Hi Rob and other's who've posted;
When growing up, we see our dad's as hero's and mum's as saints. Then one day we wake up to the fact they're just men and women; and so are we. I haven't had anything to do with my father for over 20 years.
My mum tells me he's threatened to leave me out of his will and give all to my 3 sisters. To be honest, I don't care. Sure, money's nice to have, but frankly I don't want to have to 'tow the line' or get back in his life for the sake of money. What helped me walk away in the first place was judging him first as a man, and then as a parent. He failed miserably on all counts.
His family have read him the riot act apparently, to force him to leave us equal amounts. But if I know him, he'll have the last laugh (word).
Until I was in my 40's, I thought my mother didn't love me. But that wasn't it; she wouldn't let me love her.
Unresolved issues - unspoken, unheard and left as proverbial skeletons to rot. As Paul Simon sang; "...silence like a cancer grows" "Hear my words that I might teach you; take my arms that I might reach you" and...echoed in the Sound of Silence" So finally, we go to their gravesides and tell all; hoping for uninterrupted conciliation.
I wish you all well...Dizzy x

Hi there Gibby,
Lovely to hear from you. That is the dynamic at the heart of it, I don't think anything will ever be good enough and at those moments when I am feeling good he has the uncanny ability to burst the bubble.
The car sounds good. I like the ones that go places.
Dizzy, you know I'd rather be independent and defiantly me then tow any line - I respect it when others do the same. 🙂
Rob.
