Teachers bullying other teachers

Questo
Community Member

Hi,

I went through quite an ordeal as a student teacher recently. So bad in fact that I am not able to continue my course.

I found the teachers in the system to be extremely toxic and expert bullies as well. Unpleasant to say the least.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of behaviour within an educational environment?

I was a secondary school teacher 15 years ago until I started caring for Mum. She passed away 2 months ago and I will be returning as a CRT. It was starting to get bad then.

All my teacher friends (and there are a lot) are warning me about returning to teaching, not only because of the poor quality of leading teachers in general, but also the state of the education system and student behaviour.

It's a scary time to be a teacher and I've taught music, maths, science, systems, SEAL maths abd science, VCE maths and VCE physics. I've also been induction coordinator and PD coordinator.

I'm still not keen.

Yes,

I hear you!!

The biggest mistake I made was to run a maths test that showed up some extremely poor levels of learning. Grade 6 level students who had about a Grade 2 level of ability.

The vice principal was really angry I even mentioned it and then she got extremely toxic with her comments. I kept thinking what an absolute bully.
