Feeling alone is the worst. Son (20) has mental issue's, dad no longer in the picture (doesn’t want to be), I can’t talk to sister about it and I have no other family. My best friend is good to talk to but she has her own family issues. So hard to make friends in small town. I’m not doing so well being by myself, as my son lives in his room. I’m so sad and feel really alone.

Hello Dear Krystle R,
A very warm and caring welcome to our forums…
I’m sorry sweetheart that your struggling through loneliness…I can relate so much to loneliness…..My family live 7.5 hours drive from me and I rarely see them…or even talk to them much at all maybe a few times a year…..
I try to keep myself busy with things I enjoy, it doesn’t really help take the overwhelming loneliness away but it helps the day go quicker…..
Is there something that both you and your son enjoy doing together so he can leave his room and have some quality time together, or even going for a walk together….Out to dinner together?…or maybe you can join a group of people that enjoy what you do..hobbies etc…
Krystle, we are here for you, please talk here anytime you feel up to it, we will try to support you through this loneliness if we can…
My kindest thoughts with my care and a gentle caring hug 🤗 Krystle..
Grandy..

Hey there, can definitely relate to what you are saying loneliness is the pits. It's hard when you don't have a support network and people to lean on.
Do you have a pet? Having a cat or dog has definitely helped me ease the loneliness. I've also recently joined a netball team. We don't socialise outside the game, but even the 5 or 10 minute chat I have with teammates helps.

Hi Krystle, I am in a similar situation my daughter is 22 and suffers from depression and other mental health issues. I have a 24 year old daughter aswell there father has not been in the picture since they were 10 &12.
I have no friends or family support so I leant on my eldest daughter when my youngest was at her worse. Which was between the age of 14-20. Because of this I caused my eldest daughter to become very withdrawn and sad about her own life because I concentrated so much on my younger daughter.
It has been almost 8 years of pain to the point now where my daughters hate each other. We all live together and all of us have no friends and only have each other but it is a very sad situation.
I am happy to listen to what you have to say and support you as I feel we may both be feeling the same about our situations.
