Hi guys,
My wife and I have a 5 week old little girl. We suspect she is has begun to be colic because after we feed her(formula), soon after she cries in pain. When we are able to get her to burp, she is fine but last few days it has been very difficult to get her comfortable. We were advised by a friend to try a medicine that can help prevent colic . Any suggestions would be appreciated....we haven't seen our GP yet, as we thought try something first. But we also don't want to give our baby anything that could cause harm.

Hello Dear Guest,
A very warm and caring welcome to the forums..
Congratulations for your beautiful little girl…
I think that it would be best to take your sweet little girl to your Dr. to make sure it is colic and nothing else causing her to be in pain after feeding….Maybe the formula she’s on doesn’t agree with her…no one can know more then your Dr…and she is so very young…
I think you can get medics for colic, but honestly it’s always best to check with a Dr or professional first before giving her anything before checking first…
Kind thoughts with care…
Grandy..

I join Grandy in congratulating you and warmly welcoming you to the forums.
Something Grandy mentions is exactly what one of my kids had trouble with when they were a baby. I'd decided to upgrade to the gold version of a particular reputable formula, thinking all the added benefits would be worth the extra money. It turned out they had issues with one or more of those added benefits/ingredients. Like your little girl, my baby was left crying in pain after every feed. I decided to return to the standard formula after a number of days, which stopped the issue. I'm hoping it's as simple as that for you and everyone in your house can get some sleep. Such a stressful time for you both and you have to give yourselves a pat on the back for being willing to do whatever it takes in raising your little girl to be happy and healthy, a sign of great parents. If a change in formula doesn't help, definitely worth speaking to the doctor who will have experienced a variety of other possibilities when it comes to what could be causing the issue. The best to all 3 of you. ❤️
