Hi everyone,
I have lost my identity and direction in my life. I have suffered through many traumas which have destroyed my sense of self and thus, I am 'lost' in my own life. I have forgotten what I am good at, what my dreams are, what my goals are, and who I really am.
I would love and appreciate advice as I am really struggling.

Hi Immy-95,
I'm sorry to hear that you've been through trauma and that you are struggling at the moment. It can be difficult after we've been through a very difficult period to start again and discover who we are. If you have heard of it, the blue knot foundation is a great resource for those who have been through complex trauma.
I've been through a major relapse in my depression over the last few years which has also almost destroyed my sense of self. Everything I used to value and look forward to is almost non existent now. It is easy to lose ourselves in the wake of something traumatic. But I have found through time and healing with the help of professionals, medication etc that life doesn't have to stop. I have found it is possible to rediscover yourself and make new dreams and goals. It is sad that we can't be the person we used to be but we are now stronger going through what we have and in a messed up way maybe better for it (if that makes sense).
Now might be a chance to think about what you'd like this next chapter of your life to look like. What people you'd like to meet or connect with. What dreams you'd like to pursue. It may be worthwhile talking these things through with a counsellor as they can help this process alot. Hope this helps a little.
Bob
