Hi, I'm new here & have PTSD Anxiety & Depression,
I was in a DV relationship with a narcissist for 3 years & my ex-partner physically & mentally abused me.
I lost contact with my friends I was isolated and thought I was going crazy. I have been suffering ever since. I have nightmares about the trauma caused and my mental health has deteriorated since. I keep thinking about it daily and can't get him out of my head. Some days are better than others and when I feel like this, I shut off from everyone.
I don't speak to my sisters because they always blame me when something goes wrong as I have always been the black sheep of the family.

Hey JJS,
A very warm welcome to the Forums. We are so glad that you have been able to join us here during what sounds like an incredibly challenging time.
We are so sorry to hear how you were treated in your previous relationship. There is no excuse for abuse within a relationship, and no one deserves to be treated that way. Whether it is weeks, months or years after getting out of an abusive relationship, it can take a huge toll on our wellbeing. What you are experiencing is completely understandable after surviving this for so long.
It sounds like there are not many people you feel you can talk about this with, which can make ti really hard. You deserve to feel supported. If you ever feel like talking to a counsellor, we recommend speaking to Blue Knot about this on 1300 657 380, every day between 9am-5pm (AEST). Their counsellors work with people who have experienced complex trauma. They also have some resources on their website which could be useful to visit, particularly the pages on Survivors Self Care.
1800Respect are another great resource too. They're on 1800 737 732, or you can reach them on online chat, here
We hope that this community can be a safe space for you to share what you are going through. We hope you know that you are not alone in this.
Thank you again for your courage and strength in sharing your story.
Kind regards,
Sophie M
