I have been reading many threads, which makes me feel not so alone. I've had depression for 30 yrs. the last 5yrs have been chronic, that's why I'm in a nursing home.( no where else to go) I could not look after myself anymore. I have lost (commission unit)my unit my car and my baby dog. After many shock treatments, I am on medication which is keeping stable. I just don't have a life anymore. So alone. (Have lost my friends as I was out of action. I'm sure u guys can relate. I struggle with society that they just don't get it, what do we have to do to let them know this is REAL.( as if one could pretend with this illness) I don't think so!!! I really don't have a life
anymore. Being in a nursing home does not help cause when I leave my room I see so many older people around. It does not help my depression at all. That's all for now.thank you for ur time, looking forward to some replies.
my thread name is chrissy1 which some of you may have seen.

Hello Chrissy.
You dont know me, but I noticed when you recently posted to Karen's thread last week. I have been meaning to go looking for your thread ever since. But I havent in a good frame of mind the past week, so its taken me a while to get around to it.
But whilst I have you here, I will quickly post so that your thread comes up under My Threads. And I will be able to find you again.
I want to read right through your thread before I jump in and introduce myself. Just preparing dinner now, so cant do so at this stage. But I will get back to you within a day or two.
See you then.

Mine is “I just don’t know anymore” I have been chatting to Ggrand, and she is not travelling to well, so I don’t want to put pressure on her, she has enough to cope with. Sorry I took so long to answer as I really didn’t know u were there, and I got a nice surprise when I saw ur post. Hoping all is well with you.

Hi Chrissy,
No problems at all about any delays in responding. The name of my thread is "Am I opening up a Pandora's Box"? But please do not feel obliged to go there. Yes I can see that you have been chatting comfortably with Karen. And I am aware that March is a bad month for her. As it is for myself, for that matter. Its one of a number of things she and I share. Karen has been a wonderful support to me as well. And yes, I understand your desire to not put any additional pressure on her. As I mentioned before, I first came across you when you visited Karens thread, where I have been posting for some time now.
I said I would post again once I've read your whole thread. My apologies in that I have not done so yet. Had a bit of a difficult week. But maybe tomorrow? And afterwards I hope to be able to make some meaningful conversation with you.
I note Karen has invited you along to the Weetbix Will Party Function Centre. I hope to see you there. Certainly I'll try to be there. Its all week from Monday officially, but some will be getting started tomorrow I believe. Its a jungle theme if you're interested. Just some fantasy fun and games. And it will also give you a chance to meet other members here as well. I think it sounds like fun, so I hope you can make it some time.
Either way, I will be back here to catch up again. Wishing you a pleasant evening Chrissy.

Hi Chrissy and thanks for writing back to me.
I'm not too bad thanks. Despite having a psych appointment yesterday which always knocks the stuffing out of me. I guess 'plodding along' is not such a bad thing. Yes I was aware that you are in a Nursing Home. And I gather you are considerably younger than most of the other residents there. That must be very difficult and also depressing. So getting out to your daughters place for tea last night would have been a very welcome escape for you. I see you also have a couple of grandkids. Were they there last night as well?
How nice that your daughter has a new man in her life. One who makes her happy and takes care of her.
I recently gave up my part time work due to my husbands terminal illness and my own inability to cope with working and my own PTSD difficulties. You mentioned that you had a volunteer visitor there at the nursing home recently. Now that I'm no longer working, I intend to start doing some volunteer work myself. Helping out in Nursing Homes is one option I will look at.
So sad to hear that you had to give up your little dog. Some nursing homes allow pets these days I think, which is a jolly good thing. They are realising the huge importance our pets play in our lives. And I have seen that many homes now have therapy pets visit places on a regular basis. I have a little dog, a Tenterfield Terrier by the name of Charli. She's just adorable, and I don't know what I'd do without her.
Just a little about me - I'm married, no children, aged in my late 40's, live in Northern NSW. I suffer from PTSD and Depression. Anything more you'd like to know?
Well I dont have much news at the moment either, so I will finish up for now. But I will catch you again another time, if you'd like to keep talking with me?

Hi Mandy and Karen
nice to hear from u both.
Mandy thanks for filling me in where ur at. I’m sorry about ur husband and hope that he is okay for now. That would be hard for u. And I’m glad u have a dog that makes u happy. Again I’m just plodding along. I have no motivation at all.its all just too much. And I was sorry had to give up your job. I think it helps if ur working if u can do it. I have been unable to work for past 25 yrs,it did not help my condition. I always did work in op shops, that helped a little. It’s been a very long 25yrs.
Thanks ladies for invite to weetbix willow I will check it out.its Friday 5.30 pm at the moment.
how is it going Karen? I do hope u are turning a corner.
takecare girls x

Hi Chrissy, and thanks for your reply. Yes it does sound like the past 25 years have been difficult for you.
Unfortunately Weetbix Willow has been closed, and no longer exists. Perhaps you could try the BB Cafe instead?
I'm sorry its a very brief reply, as I am not having the best of time right now. I care though Chrissy, and I will return when I am feeling more able to reply in a sensible and helpful manner.
Wishing you the best.
