Tips for the new forum

Noticing some are having problems with the new forum and thought I would share a little.  I also understand (and have some of) the frustrations many of you will have. I thought I would add a little thread here for people to share their tips to make things easier.

I leave the default sort setting from old to new. I will go down to the bottom of the first page, and then click on the button that is for the last page to get to the latest post/reply. This saves me from having to check sort order or dates or ...

PS. If you want to add other text in addition to the tip, somehow highlight the tip in bold.

Thanks for your tips. I tried the profile page but can’t see any new posts and tried the blue box but couldn’t see any unread replies. So is. Trying but can’t get things to work.

Hello Hanna,

You can unfollow a discussion by going to that discussion & clicking on the three dots at the top then selecting unfollow.

Hi Quirky,

when you look at posts in your profile section, under the "Topic" text, there is a box with a number in it. To my understanding, that is the number of posts added after yours that are unread. If you reply or look at the other posts that count goes to 0.

update to previous post.... look for items where the value in the box > 1.

(if you reply to a post, the value goes to 1.  so to skip your own reply see above)

Dear Smallwolf and All~

I've just noticed on a computer (don't know about a phone) the is a mouse-over (i.e. rest your mouse without clicking on the heart) and a small balloon will appear telling if you are about to Support or Remove your Support if you are currently Supporting)

Hope this helps

Hi Croix & everyone,

If you forgot whether or not you gave support, you can 'remove your support, (which tells you, you had), & put it back again!! I think 'oh silly thing, why doesn't it tell me I have already supported on those where I have?'

I seem to have to click to hear what clicking achieves....  that happens in other places too, so not an issue with BB. If I navagate using my keyboard, I think the problem would not arise. I find the keyboard method rather tedious, & that could be a mmMekitty  issue to do with not remembering all the keyboard combinations I could use to get from one part of a webpage to another more quickly.

Now, what do I do when I can't remember who asked what & where, when I said I'd have to get back to them because I thought I'd need more time to investigate & prepare an answer? Sorry if it was anyone reading here, although I don't think it was this Discussion.

Warmly,

Hello Wolfie & anyone dropping by.

I thought I'd leave a tip about when I recieved a Notification for a Topic/Discussion/Post I was not aware I was Following. It was one I had not participated in & have no plan to. I emailed Modsupport, & part of the reply was this:

"It sounds like you may be subscribed to a whole topic, rather than an individual discussion (FKA thread. You can see what you’re following, and unfollow posts, discussions and topics by going to profile, scrolling down to “Discussions you’re following”, and then viewing the list or hitting “Manage discussions”.

When I followed this advice, I discovered a list of what I've Followed, & saw the Discussion on the list, & then I checked the checkbox, found a note at the top of the list, asking if I wanted to remove the selected item, & I haven't seen one Notification about that Discussion since.

I think knowing how to access this list & remove anything you don't want to Follow anymore could be very useful, especially when it seems you are Following too much to keep up with or realise the Topic, or Discussion, or Posts are making you feel uncomfortable.

Hope this helps someone. 😸

Hi,

I am trying to start a new discusssion, it keeps telling to fix highlighted areas when I try to post it, but there are no highlighted areas to fix, not sure what to do, I am new to the forum.

Hello, if you post this to 'modsupport@beyondblue.org.au' you might get a quicker response.
