How can we improve the Forums?

This discussion is a space for all members to share suggestions and ideas to improve the Forums. This can be anything. Navigation, notifications, topics and themes, moderation, community rules, or something else!

 

We'd love to hear about what you think we can do better. We are really grateful to everyone who has contributed their ideas already, and we're always keen to hear more.

Ahh Summer Rose it's like you wrote my exact thoughts when you spoke about feeling worried having all your posts accessible in one easy search. As someone who (like you) has been on the forums a long time and replied to a lot of posts there is a huge amount of personal information scattered about the forums about myself. I feel like whenever you write to someone you end up sharing little snippets of your own life. On their own those bits of info aren't a big deal but grouped in one place it scares me a great deal too.

Maybe I'm just paranoid. After all it's highly unlikely anyone is going to bother to go to the effort of reading so many posts. But the potential is still there and that makes me uncomfortable.

I suppose I just have to try trust people better. But I am glad you spoke up too because I feel less silly knowing someone else has the same fears.

Hello robthomaslover, absolutely agree with what's been said, as I've said many times 95% of people wanting to post a comment will be frightened away by the new forums.

It is easier to start a new thread which people found difficult in the previous forums, however, changes need to be made to keep all of us happy.

Hello Summer Rose, thanks for your comment and all of us expected the new forums to be 100% positive, unfortunately, there are too many negative comments and I have to be honest.

Hi Mods, what was good with the old forum is that we could see who we were replying to just above the reply box, now we have to scroll up to see who this person is, the old way was better.

I’m so glad I’m not alone with my concern. Thank you for your support.

I don’t find it easy to trust other people and I certainly don’t trust every inhabitant of Australia who could be reading. Trust has to be earned.

I did trust bb as an organisation though. I know no harm was ever intended and the change was made with the best of intentions, but it highlights the lack of control we have over our information. Really makes you start thinking.

Hi Sophie

The new layout looks good. I did struggle with trying to use it on my iphone but found my computer a much easier way of navigating the new layout. Also initially had difficulties trying to logon because it's been so, so long since I've been around. All good now. I give more feedback as I do more hanging about in the forums. From what I've seen so far it looks easy to use and to follow. Also like having all most posts listed in my profile. That's good. Means I don't have to retain my responses on my computer.

Pamela I am glad you are back posting and finding the new format easy to ease.

There are sone like me who are finding it harder than before and I am posting much less than before. I am sure things will work out in long run.

Dear All

There may be some problems involved in finding the threads we used to look at on the old forum.

One method I can use is becuse I have a browser (Firefox in my case) that has a 'history' function that lists all the pages I have ever been to on the web. Other browsers like Chrome have this too - at least on the desktop computer version.

I simply click on the particular entry in history and it takes me to the Discussion (thread) here in the the new forum

If you then "Follow" that discussion it will appear in your Settings in your Profile where you cna go to it anytime

I do believe some browsers on phones have a history too
