Hey Smith34343,

Welcome to the Forums, and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. It can feel really isolating at times, but please know you’re not alone. Reaching out for support is such a brave step.

Our wonderful community members may be able to relate and share some of the strategies that have helped them. We’re confident they’ll see your post and offer their perspectives soon. In the meantime, here are a couple of resources you might find helpful: As daunting as it might feel right now, even chatting to your GP about next steps, such as what support options are available, might be worthwhile. You deserve support, it is a lot to carry on your own.

Thank you again for opening up here. We’re here to support you as you navigate this and remind you that you are not alone.

Kind regards,
Sophie M

Hi guest,

My name is key.

I am 24 female, I can understand if talking a female about this problem might be embarrassing however, if you would like I can offer you advice?

Hi there,

I'm going to take a slightly different approach to this - addictive behaviours are often ways to cope with stressors and trauma in our life. Could it be the pornography addiction is being used as a coping mechanism? Maybe not, but if so, it can be hard to remove the coping mechanism (in this case a pornography addiction), if the stressor has not been dealt with.

Good luck with everything 🙂

Hi there,

First of all its super brave of you to be accepting this within yourself and begin seeking help. I know addictions can feel very shameful but theres so much power in speaking up about them and seeking help. My advice to you would be to try and speak to someone trusted about this. It does not have to be someone directly related to you, but even booking in with a psychologist or counsellor where everything is private/confidential could be very beneficial.

If seeing someone face to face is too difficult to begin with, I'd try calling Beyond Blue's counselling service number to speak with someone anonymously, or using their web chat service.

I will link it these resources below:

Hopefully this post along with the others can help give you some guidance also reassurance in that you are not alone in this experience.

Good luck and kindest regards.
