Hi to all.
lt's an unbelievable time in life to find myself stuck in this position, just don't know how to look at it, or what to do about with it, if l can anything at all.
Problem is, at almost 60, yeah l've mixed up details in other threads just a bit concerned some l know may also be here and haven't wanted any connection here that l might know, butttt, yep.
Thing is l didn't get anything out of my last house, the people l went into the property with as it was a big place, went broke.
Well , sort of lucky although maybe a curse , not sure anymore but l do still have a 1ac country property, 18yrs now, from back when l was married.
l can't work anymore for mh reasons but if l took care l can survive until l can get the pension- living at the 1ac place- it only has a small over nighter atm but l could extend and it'd come up quite nice .
Problem is, it's in a ting town, 30mins to the main town which is a really nice place and there's also a couple of tiny ones in between before that main buttttt, out where this place is, is tiny and out on it's own .
l always planned selling it about now but problems are now that for 1, even if it did sell, it's just a cheap little country block it'd only be a good deposit on something closer in- but circumstances now that'd mean a new mortgage and l'd have to keep working too, don't think l could stomach either of those especially the stress in trying to make it happen.
2nd thing highly possible it doesn't even sell anyway.
l know l'm lucky to at least have it and all , with the housing crisis and so many in worser positions , l just never dreamed l'd be living on it though and honestly, just don't know but it looks like l might be forced to.
l grew up in the city and have lived in some of the nicest places in the country but to have to settle on this place out there now- look the property itself is a really cute block and in a nice little back street- if l could put it on a truck to somewhere else it'd be really nice - but this town.

Well, it's a very serious decision at this stage Tone as l said, l don't wanna screw myself up.
l know what your saying but l don't think your comprehending my position as compared to someone in yours now.
But anyway thx for the thoughts, no supper as l said but do have a small investment that's been doing ok.

Fair enough RX. It is a tough situation and only you can work your way through it.
The worry about screwing up is common, you work hard and have what you have and to lose it? See, housing prices could soar after you've sold up, thats a risk.
R U OK?

House prices have already soared, have been 10yrs my old house is worth over 3x what l got it for 9yrs ago. This is the worst housing crisis in our history. There's less that 1% rental vacancies. Our Govs have imported over 2mill in immigration in 4yrs and guess what, they're gonna increase immigration by another 15%, brilliant. When we were already 1mill houses short , 4yrs ago.
Aside from all that wonderful news, l might not even be able to sell my place here some blocks have been up 2yrs, nice ones to and dirt cheap.
Unfortunately places like this don't go up like everywhere else, l might not even be able to sell it so yeah, l've gottta have a plan B to if l'm ever getting out of it.

Anyway, do appreciate the help Tony and wanna thank you , God knows you probably have enough going on and better things to do.
But ahhh, tbh , think l might stop the old thread here bc l've already splattered all over the internet here enough of my personal business and situation, not good it's making me jumpy.
My situation tis what it tis, have to see now if l can even sell first of all let alone whether there'll even be enough to even buy something else even if l do so it'll be a play by ear from here.
Thx again

you're welcome.
Any developments then feel free to begin another post RX as that could bring with it separate challenges.
I think you have the situation under control in terms of the housing market, the risks and your needs whatever your decision ends with.
Glad you're ok mate

Gday Eagle Ray if you happen to drop in , and to Tony too ofc.
Well, bit of news. The cabin went back on the market about a mth ago, l think even before my last post here actually, can't remember, dk if l mentioned it.
Just put the feelers out really but low and behold it sold about 2wks later and now it does look like the sale will go through ok soooo, that will be that.
l haven't been thinking about it too much before this bc these things can fall though but it's all looking solid now as of last wk.
l've been feeling really good and very very relieved about leaving that area and so glad of the decision now.
l took off again with the van last wk and l've been staying over in one of the new areas l've been thinking about and looking at a couple of places.
The choices are few bc of this insane property market in this country now but am digging at least a couple up and some more over in another spot l've also been mulling over.
Can say one thing though once again, feels so damn good to be giving up that whole cabin area idea, place wasn't right day one square pegs round hole from the start and l'm glad to be dumping the whole thing. Feels so much nicer back over this way and back into the real world possibilities.
How's it been going at your end Eagle Ray anyway if you happen to drop in, hope your doing ok ?

Hi rx and wave to Tony,
I’m really glad the cabin sold. When you feel relieved and really glad it is such a good sign. You can move forward and having the van means you can explore options at your pace. I’m glad you are seeing a few options out there in the current housing market. You can hold out until you find a place that feels really right for you.
I too know I will be getting out of here as soon as I can. I found legally non-compliant issues occurring here in relation to the strata property which I had to report. It would have been a health and safety issue plus a legal liability issue if I hadn’t. But the consequence has been severe bullying by other residents who wanted the non-compliance issues to remain hidden. Consumer Protection has advised I’m doing the right thing and offered mediation support if needed. I’ll be speaking with legal aid support today. In the short time I’ve been in this town I know of three other residents who left because of severe bullying and now I’m a main target, just because I told the truth in relation to a moral and legal issue. The whole situation is making trying to sell my unit harder but I’m trying to stay strong, documenting everything and looking for the right supports. It’s a real struggle to sleep at night.
My advice would be if you consider a strata unit anywhere get a copy of the minutes of strata meetings for that property. It can tell you a lot about the dynamics of what may be happening at the property which can be a useful indicator of what you might be facing if living there. Check for issues of legal compliance by the strata company and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Hopefully you will find a standalone property anyway or if you do buy a unit that you have a good body corporate who are ethical and good neighbours. I think the good thing for you about being in the van is you can really spend time in towns to get to know them. Had I really known what this place is like I would never have moved here. You want somewhere you can feel safe and happy.
Take care and all the best,
er

Morning er and thx for the tips and thoughts.
Firstly yeah, hoping she goes through ok ofc but still not wanting to think too much on it just yet. lf all is well though hell yeah, right decision can't even explain the relief.
l seem to have the kiss of the sale though as far as new places go already 2 l've looked at one l was seriously thinking about have both sold a wk or 2 later, Jezuz, can't believe it. But there is one just over from where l'm staying here atm now, one of the reasons l'm here , feeling things out for that one, really like it , d came over to look at it too , same, but we see. There's another spot and a few over there wanna look at first and of whatever else turns up to meantime, but now that we've looked at this one given those other two, hoping no one pops up and buys this bugger meantime to now.
But yeah the freedom of the van and free camps is a real blessing for sure, takes all the pressure off- well apart from the seeming to sell off soon as l turn up thing anyway. 😅
But oh God, that's no good er, bloody hell. All you need. Can you undo whatever it is , back away and just lay low instead, hopefully it'll blow over long enough for you to sell seems your sounding pretty well decided anyway, that's what l'd do. Not even your worry if your leaving anyway, really really sorry to hear that though. One thing l know about small towns they don't go well with anyone stirring some pot they want left alone.
That's what l wound up doing with the hoarder cross the road and the cars his left out front. Gave up on it told the buyer he does say he is taking the cars away l'm leaving it at that now not my circus any more to hell with it. Weirdly the buyer didn't seem to mind them anyway so that was ok.
Thx for the tips though too but eh l think l've just been turned of units full stop for life Jezuz to hell with that bs. Maybe for you too if you do sell maybe just buy land instead next and a tiny house or something seems you love those anyway.
Really hoping you can calm the situation there down though and if your minds made up you can sell off and move along. Think it'd sell soon enough especially over there so if you do want to , well.
Big hug
