Hello

I am wanting to know if anyone else feels just worthless. And what they did about that feeling that creeps inside of you.

Thanks

Hi Shelley anne,

Leunig is a cartoonist often published in the Age and Sydney Morning Herald. I grew up with his rather enigmatic cartoons. The self worth thing is complicated at the best of times for me. I think one of the secrets is thinking back to when I was a child and if I had value or was good or bad just wasn't a thing, I was just me. When I think of that child I often realise that deep inside I am still the same kid. I have a bit of a parental relationship with the child inside and feel the need to keep her/him safe and loved.

Something else, you are rather valued here from what I read Shelley anne, you speak from the heart and people respond, they can see you are worthwhile.

Rob.

That explains why I have never heard of this Luenig character, I never read the newspaper while I was growing up. I cannot remember even seeing one in the house. And the only newspaper that I would sort of scan, would be the free one that gets tossed on the front lawn.

I find the topic of self worth very deep, like it makes you think a lot.

I am so sorry Rob, I am trying desperately to understand what else you are saying in this post. And no matter how many times I go over it, I am still not grasping it. And I so much want to, because I care about you.

Hi Shelley Anne, I too find this topic interesting I have struggled all my life with a low self worth and other things, these days I realise that I can contribute in a positive in many areas which is good thing the catch for me is that if I think to deeply about issues i fall into trap of thinking of my low self worth my trick is these days is not to analyse things to much just do it, I am new to the forum and doing what i say and that is just reply to posts and not think to much about it just write my story and it helps me connect and feel a little better.

shaun the sheep ( no shaun is not my name and I am not a sheep) bahh bath

Dear Shaun the sheep

Well after reading your last sentence, well it was so light hearted, that I started to feel less heavy. And you helped me to smile, so thank you very much. In fact I just scrolled back up to your reply, to read the sentence again.

I think you may be on to something there, in regards to analyzing too much. I think that is what I do.......I just simply think about all different issues very deeply way to much. Then it starts to feel so so heavy.

Anyway I really appreciate the way that you blessed me with your ray of lightness.

And I love your sheep there sticking his thumb up like that.....Heaps of hugs

Shelley anne

HI Shelley Anne

I am so glad my words put a smile on you face there could be more of smiles if we allow ourselves to do just that.

As silly as it sounds Shaun is a hero to me, he doesn't speak in human but a lot of humans could learn a lot from his actions they are just so kool, you can see what he gets up to either on TV,google him or his Facebook page all I can tell you is I find him so funny to watch but I do have a sic sense of humour anyway who cares it works for me.

When i think too much about my stuff,  I end up in all sorts of turmoil like today I worked my self into a state over one possible disaster but it turned out not to the drama i imagined it to be WHY DO I DO THIS…I don't have to and I try not to with with heaps of effort, when it works that's great and when it doesn't so be it there is always tomorrow or the next time i just keep trying.

Be kind to yourself Shelley Anne

P.S What do you call a bunch of lambs running around together quickly…..a lambpede.  haha

Hello  Janhavi

It appears you may be new here to the beyond blue forums. If yes....... then here is a welcome hug.

Do you struggle with feeling worthless too, like you don't matter, or do you just think about it?

Yeah I like to daydream too. Anyway I just wanted to say hi to you.

OK then bye

Thanks for your joke, Shaun the sheep, I didn't really get it at first, then I showed it to my son, who laughed and explained it to me.

I have been told by a few people, that I over think things, and when I do over think things , it actually can cause me to feel fearful and anxious. So that is a bit like you, isn't it?

Hope you are getting along OK today, and thanks so much for well......being you.

Hugs

Shelley

Hi Shelly Anne,

Thank you for asking about my well being, I have had a couple of rough days…if I look at the things that have gone down recently in my life and the end results of these issues i really had no reason to be so worried and depressed but I was fearful, depressed and anxious and that's my disability, I hate it but at the moment it is just me and the way i deal with life. I really do understand that the way I over think things brings much grief into my life. What is required by me is to just not over think things and work through the issue at hand without worrying before there is a true issue to worry about.

How good would it be if we all could channel our thoughts into things that are positive with this we all can make such a difference but for me my mind plays the tricks it does, this i'am not happy about but tomorrow it may be different so thats why i keep trying and i figure one day it will be my way that's why I keep trying…If we don't keep at it won't ever happen as the saying goes " keep doing the same thing don't expect a different result".

Be Happy and safe.

Shaun the sheep.

P.S. At this time of year sheep like me have a mohawk hair cut as our wool falls out except on our back which keeps our back from getting sun burnt…Can you picture that!!!.

Hey Shaun the sheep

I'm sorry you had a few rough days. I hope you are feeling better today.

This feeling of worthlessness......seems like so so common. And I am thinking it is a big fat lie, then many of us believe. There I go again,.......I am probably thinking way to much about it. I even wonder if the feeling of not being of any worth, is a break down in society. Like families are not the same as years gone by. The family is the place where our self worth is like born and is nurtured and then it is firmly established within our being. I don't know....just thinking is all.

Hope you are truly feeling better, and I m sorry I wish I had a joke or something to tell you. But I don't. In fact I do not even 'get it' with many jokes. It is embarrassing at times.

Hugs

Hi there Shelley anne,

What you are thinking about there is interesting.

Malcolm X said, "When I is replaced with we even illness becomes wellness." (My inner geek loves that quote)

You already know that I think everyone is worthwhile (except myself, I struggle to see it there). You might be onto something, I think we often make our ideas of ourselves in response to what others we care about say and do. I hope that together all of us can do better.

Rob.
