What I want to go away today!

Hi Everyone,

While replying on a different thread, I came up with this idea due to a comment the person made about "wanting it all to go away".

This is a thought I am sure many of us have experienced! It may help if we can express what it is that we want to go away, and than look at ways of dealing with those thoughts, how we can change life to be more beneficial and consider the good things of the day.

I will make a start with my own list of things I'd like to go away:
- waking up in the morning thinking oh bother, here comes another day!
- depression, dizziness, poor concentration, headaches, back ache, neck ache...etc!
- not having employment
- juggling conversations with a husband who may be on the Autism spectrum but declines to be assessed
- the days are heating up...I'm already looking forward to winter!
- feeling like I need to struggle with my thoughts every day
- uncertainty, wanting to run away frequently

I know that if I continue to entertain these thoughts, they will just keep on growing into something even more terrible. I can consider ways of making my life better. Starting with one of these issues at a time.

Okay, now any of you have an opportunity to share.
The next step though is to be thankful for something today despite maybe feeling like the day has been less than average.

Today I am thankful for: the laughter I shared with a lady in the Op Shop today. Who knew that folding plastic bags and chatting could be so much fun!

So what do you want to go away today, how can you help to lessen the impact this issue has on you, and list something good from your day.

Cheers all from Dools

Hi Doolhof and everyone else.

wouldnt it be nice if we could write what we want to go away and when we press post, the internet fairy will magically take them away from us. how amazing would that be. But it's only my wishful thinking.

The things I want to go away are.

My anxiety so I can talk face to face with people.

My sadness, depression and guilt feelings, being alone

The feeling of being constantly trapped,

My constantly chatty mind thinking bad thoughts

Wanting to run away from me

The good thing that happened today was that I sat and watched my two little dogs play on the lounge room rug.

GG.

Hi All,

I'm hoping by sharing how we are feeling it may help us all realise that yes we do have issues, but no they do not have to be totally consuming.

Finding the good things in life certainly helps me!

I haven't been up for very long and can't actually think of anything I would like to be gone except for

- indecision

- still feeling dizzy in the head and having low energy.

Today I am going to sort out my medical notes from my last hospital trip so that will all be organised.

I am going to attend an event in out local town this morning for Remembrance Day.

Tonight we are catching up with friends so I am looking forward to that.

Cheers all from Dools

Hi Mrs D (and everyone who has replied and is reading),

You have a knack for thinking of awesome threads. I like the idea of acknowledging the bad and then focusing on the good.

What I wish would go away...

  • This low mood and lack of energy. Like wading through a swamp.
  • The unhelpful feeling of just not caring and going through the motions on autopilot.

I am thankful for...

  • Knowledge. Knowing this will pass.
  • My husband for being thoughtful and finding ways to reduce the physical pain.

I am new to the site and was first diagnosed with depression in 2005. Having a low day/weekend, I know it happens and try not to fight it when it does. Over the years I have become familiar with the signs and take notice of how my mind and body are feeling. This one was set off by thoughts of loneliness due to my parents going interstate for Christmas this year and that my daughter has her boyfriends family and I feel like I am in limbo or a third wheel. I know in my heart this isn't true and I have plenty of friends and family to spend time with at Christmas. The thoughts will pass and I just need to let them play out. I had planned to go bike riding over the weekend but woke up with a headache yesterday and ended up sleeping and watching movies on the couch.

What I wish would go away:

  • The loneliness feeling
  • the overthinking
  • the lethargy

Todays positive:

  • My cat, Elvis, knows when I am feeling low and is more affectionate and lays with me or on me more than usual.
  • Knowing "this too shall pass"

Hey Mrs D,

Thanks for your support and I think this is a great thread so hear goes

What I want to go away is my reoccurring feelings of paranoia , insecurity, worthlessness, self doubt, self loathing, feeling powerless, unloved, useless, and a waste of space.

Today is a bad day

Tomorrow has to be better

Stressless

Today I wish

-my depression would go away

-my desire to run away would go away

-my feeling of being shattered would go away

To make my day better

-I have written out pages of vomited out thoughts from my broken mind

- I will go for a walk

- I will work on finding positive things to do today.

What I wish would go away: My past. Specifically all those embarrassing little (and some big) episodes that I keep getting reminded about that cause me debilitating shame and guilt.

What I am grateful for: My home and family, and my work, even though I'm finished with it. The friends I still have. So many things that are in my past now, tinged with sadness but still grateful. Shit I'm only in my low 60's and talking as if life is over! but as the old joke goes "I've got a great future behind me"

So both aspects are tied up with my past. Funny that.

I am not in a good space at all right now. I will attempt this though.

What I want to go away-

1. My depression.

2. Feeling constantly lonely

3. My overthinking and obsessive thoughts about my ex

4. The feeling that I will never be happy again.

5. The feeling of wanting to escape my life, and feeling trapped in my own mind.

Things I am thankful for-

My kids

Hi dani, aegidius and All,

There is no right or wrong way to do this, we all have our own way of expressing ourselves. I just thought it might help some people to off load in this fashion.

What I want to go away;

- low self esteem

- self doubt

- not believing in myself.

Today I made steps in overcoming some of this:

1- I talked to a lady at Church whom I always think of as being better than me in so many ways

2- I invited myself to a luncheon my husband was attending and enjoyed chatting to the ladies

Cheers all from Mrs. Dools

What I want to go away today

- Flies! Pesky, sticky flies that try to get up my nose, in my mouth and eyes when I am out walking. Yuck. Yuck Yuck! I dislike those sticky pesky flies!

Thankfully we have few flies in the house!

I could wear one of those glamorous fly nets while out walking!
