I've been unemployed since Easter and im starting to not cope with it.

Im in an employment program and im considered thier most "employable" member, on top of this ive been applying for atleast 20 jobs a month and haven't gotten to the interview stage for any of jobs ive applied for, I cant bring myself to pay for another certificate just for it to get me no where, this has led me to have suicidal thoughts lately.

Hi,

I’m really sorry to hear you’re struggling to find a job. I’m not sure what your age is from your post, but at any age it can really impact your self-esteem if you’re out of work for an extended period of time.

I think a lot of people do experience this at some point in their life. I know I did in my early twenties, and so did some of my friends. In time however we all managed to find a career that suited us. It just seemed to fall into place. I truely believe the knock backs push you into a direction that allow you to find the right job. One door closes and another door opens.

It’s still very challenging, and the negativity can be incredibly draining. Sometimes, even the thought of having to learn yet another skill or put in the extra work required to get the job you really want can feel worse than actually doing it. Our minds have a habit of putting up barriers or expecting the worse. We seemed to be designed this way. Thousands of years ago this type of thinking kept us safe, but in a modern world it just makes us anxious.

If you can I would recommend trying something new. It doesn’t always have to involve spending money, and I’m sure there are many government subsidised courses out there that might help. I would also suggest calling the employers that turned you down and ask for feedback. Ask for genuine feedback and anything that they would recommend to improve your chances.

I know it’s difficult, and please don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re not alone. So many very caring people are out there willing to help people like yourself.

Hope that helps you in some way.

Regards,

WB

Hello Dear Guest,

I'm really sorry your having a very difficult time trying to get employment...Oys do hard with possibly scores of people applying for 1 job...

I live in country nsw and I can  honestly say that most 95% of people here are unemployed...I am on aged pension so I don't need to look for work anymore...just a thought if you don't mind...Have you thought of doing some type of volunteer work, while your unemployed to add to your resume..some employers value people that do volunteer work and it might help you to gain a bit of favour*  in their eyes...because your gaining some experience and empolyers can see that your willing to work...as I said its ust me thinking...

Wishing you good luck in your search for work...talk here anytime you feel up to it.

Kind thoughts,

Grandy.
