symptoms - feeling poorly

Hi people,

so, this is my 4th day not working and at home... I'm freaking out because I have not stopped sleeping...

Each morning, I resolve to myself that I'm going to go do something. Walk, run, swim...leave the damn house. So today, I managed to leave the house... To go to the pharmacy to get my scripts refilled... (I don't think that even counts as it is a 2 min drive)

i also forced myself to have a shower after 3 days of no showers... Is that extra bonus points?

Anyway, so my first question is: my meds have been adjusted (dosage increased) back to something I have been on previously. I don't know if I'm feeling better, but I do know that I'm feeling crazy lethargic... And sleeping... A lot.... Is that normal? Dizziness... Been feeling so dizzy, but maybe that's just because I have been spending so much time horizontal... (Not in the fun way). Fuzziness...i feel fuzzy, like my whole brain is fuzzy, as if I haven't brushed it with a toothbrush and minty fresh paste for a few days.  Do you guys get the same thing after medication adjustment?

My Second one is: in an attempt to 'do' something, I thought my SO and I could start on planning the kitchen (probably slightly ambitious). 5 minutes in, I was already irritated and annoyed at him... For no reason. So he's being supportive, trying not to ask too many questions, sitting in silence, but his presence is starting to annoy me... I want him to go out, do something and leave me alone (selfish I know).

If I'm getting irritated by my SO who 'understands', I'm going to last about 5 minutes against my work colleagues who are about 1000000000000 times more insufferable.

Anyway, this is more of a vent than anything else... But if you've got ideas on the medication thing, drop me a line. I don't really recall having too many probs with side effects before, but then again, I never can remember clearly what it's like from episode to episode.

Ginger,

I imagine different meds have different effects.  I certainly recall being light-headed, dizzy when rising from a seated position too quickly, nauseous.. A family friend likened being on the same meds as being akin to morning sickness (surprisingly, as a male, I've never been pregnant to verify her claims).  I vaguely recall being not clear-minded, until I got used to the med/dosage.

A couple of suggestions: consider walking to the pharmacy next time - doesn't sound as though it is too far.  Or, start small - walk to the end of the street and back, or to the nearest intersection, or write a letter or a card to someone and go to the post box etc.

Try telling your SO how you feel, that you need a bit of space and that you'd feel most comfortable if that space was actually in your own home.  Make it easy for him by organising an activity for him, like a game of golf, or a movie ticket, or I dunno, brainstorm a list of errands for him to run (poor guy).

You'll survive your work colleagues by focusing on the tasks of your job, taking things day by day and making just enough of an effort with your co-workers to get by.

Hi Ginge-Ninje,

Hey, I don't recall seeing you at my work place!?!?!?  Or that you've been away from work these past few days??    I only say that, cause it sounds like where you work is similar to my situation as well.  And when you've gotta be there for a large portion of your day, it does become really bad.  I'm even at the stage where their individual voices and laughter irritates the absolute bejesus outta me, and I can't work with ipods, as I have to listen out for phone calls that come in reasonably regularly.

I do give you bonus points for the drive to the chemist (and Incubus's suggestion to walk there, if possible is a good one) and more bonus points to you for getting showered as well.  Another additional one is that you were able to come on here and post.

I'm not overly old (late 40's) but I'm really struggling to work out what SO is?  I've come up with "Special Otherhalf" or "Significant Otherhalf" but for the life of me, I cannot work it out.  Any help please?

How recent was the meds change for you??  It is a little unusual if you've had your meds changed that the prescribing person (be they your GP or psych) has not followed up with you to see how you are?  As in either a phone call or a follow up appointment, like a week later - just to check that you're going ok and nothing too out of hand is happening.  Tis a bit of a shame that it's the weekend as I would be seeing if you could phone them to let them know or make an appointment - if it continues I'd be arranging to speak with them as early as possible next week.

You mentioned in another post that you are a gym goer, yeah??  When you did (do) that, are you a solo kind of gym person or do you go with another person?  If it's the latter, once you start to feel a little better from these side effects, is it possible to call that person and say, "Hey I think I'm ready to head to the gym for a session?"  And perhaps you could ease back to the gym that way?  If you're a solo gym goer, then please erase that paragraph from your memory bank.

Hope to hear back from you whenever you feel like it,

Kind regards

Neil
