My depression has been pretty much destroying my life. Combined with newly discovered AuDHD and an ongoing family situation, I've been flunking uni, ghosting friends, and have barely been able to work. I'm feeling very hopeless, stuck and embarrassed- I know I shouldn't compare but all my friends have their lives together and are doing so well, and I am, by the very definition of the word, a loser.
How can I muster the energy to suck things up and get through things so I don't keep falling behind? I've recently been too exhausted to even pretend to care, but at the same time no amount of break time helps. I'm at a loss of what to do.

Hi there,
Welcome back to the forums, I'm glad you're here. I'm sorry to hear about the difficult time you're going through right now. Its seems like things are heavy on your shoulders and understandably so, you feel exhausted and like a failure. I promise you, you're not a loser or a failure for struggling. It's like what you said-we can't compare ourselves to others. We really don't know what others are going through. They may seem perfect on the outside, but we can't know for sure what goes on in their minds. I say it's best to focus on yourself and your own paths instead of theirs (I know it's easier said than done).
With the mention of flunking uni, if you're struggling with motivating yourself, I suggest allotting some time and force yourself to sit at a desk and open your laptop. Maybe that sounds blunt to say, I know how hard it is to motivate yourself. If you set a bit of time aside and even set a timer of like 30 mins to make yourself do a bit of work, maybe it'll help you to get something done. I know at my uni, you can get an extension on assignments if you apply for one and have special requirements, see if you can get one too so you have extra time to work on them.
You are more than welcome to keep chatting on here and we'll support you. I hope you're ok and please talk to someone you trust-whether that's a therapist and/or a family member for example. I know people say this a lot but you're not alone.
Talk again,
PsychDiaries

Hey _Gigi_
Thanks for sharing what you’ve been going through. It sounds like your carrying a lot right now, so sending love your way.
I can relate to a few things you mentioned like the family stuff, flunking uni and isolating from friends due to my depression. I also resonate with your feelings. I’ve felt embarrassed by my situation and compared myself to friends who seem to have their life together when I don’t.
i just wanted to say that your not alone in what your feeling and thanks for sharing because it’s made me feel less alone.
