Pregnant and becoming increasingly depressed

AliceMay
Community Member
I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant and I hate it. Mentally, i'm not the same anymore and I find myself becoming more and more withdrawn from activities and family. I sleep most days when not at work, and no, it's not just pregnancy exhaustion. I have no appetite for food and nothing I do eat is ever satisfying. My partner lives interstate - though hes moving in 3 weeks - and I find myself becoming more withdrawn from him as well. The pressure of the whole situation is really getting to me and I am so tired of all conversation revolving around me being pregnant. I feel weighted down by it all, and I don't mean that I don't want my baby, but I hate being pregnant and how it's changing how I feel.

Hi AliceMay,

Welcome to the community here. Sorry to read you are struggling at present. I am wondering if you have been to have a chat with your Dr about how you are feeling? A health check may be beneficial.

The Dr may be able to suggest someone you can talk to in regards to your mental health state, as it is just as important as our general health..

Would you like to share more of what is making you feel so hateful about being pregnant?

Do you have specific concerns that keep playing over in your mind? Could you write them down in a journal to help find the cause of your thoughts?

Maybe you could Google to see if there is a pregnancy support number or even Women's Health Centre in your area or nationally where you could talk to someone.

Do you have activities you enjoy doing? Is it possible to add more of those into each day when possible?

When people go on about your pregnancy more than you appreciate, can you ask them kindly to change the subject? Would that work for you?

Hope you find some things that will help you.

Regards from Dools
