Hi all,
I have only just joined here as a first step in trying to figure out what i need to do. i started a new job almost a year to the day ago and in the last 6-8 months i just cannot seem to do what i should do. all other aspects of my life seem to be great, awesome wife, i'm active ahve friends etc, however when it comes to sunday night and knowing the work week is about the start i just start feeling nervous and my work days are so unproductive, i estimate maybe doing 30% of what i should in a week. I have this non stop feeling in my stomach and i really know i need to do more but when it comes down to it i just sit in front of my computer screen until i get distracted and end up doing not much at all. I feel it wont be too long until my sales are not where they need to be and i will be fired but i just can not seem to kickstart and do what i need to.
i dont even know if this is depression or what.
has anyone else out there been in a similar situation?
many thanks

Hi Mudgeeguy,
Welcome to the community here. From what you have written, it sounds like you are struggling at work and doing okay else where in your life.
Can you set yourself goals at work? Tell yourself you want to achieve so much by a certain time, and when you reach your "realistic" goals, congratulate yourself for over coming the hurdle of the first couple of hours.
I have been struggling with some study on line recently. My psyche has suggested that now and then I need to take a mental health break. He has suggested that I try and concentrate on something else for a couple of minutes.
Try to think of a country of the world for every letter of the alphabet, or a sport, a food or whatever category you think of. Or count from 100 backwards in 3's. Apparently this helps to fire up one section of the brain that then reduces the impact of the negativity our minds are creating. It has helped me.
Maybe you could make a list of all the reasons why you work and how the money comes in handy. That may encourage you to stay at work and be more productive.
Can you do something different at lunch time? Do you have the chance to even go for a 5 minute walk to get out of the building you work in?
Can you find some way to reward yourself on a Sunday night so your mind is in a more positive mood?
Concentrating on the negatives just helps them to grow even more in my experience!
Hope this has helped a little.
Cheers from Dools
