Hi
I'm new so I have no idea how to start this but I've been struggling through depression for 7 years which feels like forever
this year I felt things were going well I moved in to a place and finally got out of a job that was making my mental spiral down within two weeks of my new job I was suddenly let go which was like a kick in the stomach I thought I was going good and from there I just seem to be going down hill. Even after these years and numerous psychologists I still can not figure out why I am this way I have an amazing family who are supportive and understanding
i have always been a more suffer in silence type but the last time I felt this bad I was hospitalised
After reading some of the stories I would just like to say thank you it means there could be a light at the end of the tunnel

Hi Digital
Welcome to Beyond Blue and thank you for coming here and providing your post.
I do like the last part of your post – meaning that you’ve obviously been on here and reading up on others’ stories and therefore the response posts back with advice and support. I hope that you’ve been able to pick up on some things that may be relevant to yourself.
Are you currently seeing any professional (eg: GP, psychologist, psychiatrist, etc) for support and guidance? Are you also on any meds?
It is such a huge relief and a very nice thing to know that a family can be behind the person with this illness – it does make a huge difference and that is so pleasing to read that.
If you’re able to, it’d be great to hear back from you.
Neil

Hi Neil
thank you for replying and yes I'm so lucky to have the understanding and support from my family that others may not have, and I am trying to keep a positive outlook but as we all know that is easier said than done
i have been taking medication and seeing a psychologist for majority of the 7 years but I did have a year off and ended up going down once again and I won't make that mistake
I have been doing all those little tricks I have learnt but they are just not working at this point
thank you

dear Digital, welcome to the site and thanks for posting your comment.
Depression, why and how can we describe it, well it's not that easy because every person is different and so many issues that could influence it's ongoing presence, sure we can pretend that all is OK but deep down it's a constant and continuous problem.
Just anything can bring it back on, because once we have had it it's there for life, but what we can do is to be able to control it, however we are aware of the sensitive points it has put us through, and this has happened with you by losing your job.
Can I ask you a couple of questions, and only answer if you want to, but I'm interested to find out how your family felt with you being hospitalised, and you also mention about seeing 'numerous psychologists', so have you found one that you now like. Geoff.
