I’ve been suffering from major depression for about 7 years now and it’s not letting up. At this point I’m considering getting a support dog. The only issue is I have no idea how to do it and if depression is a good enough excuse. It’s hard for me to go to school without breaking down and if the depression isn’t enough I’m also in the middle of autism burnout and it’s not great. Dogs pretty much instantly calm me down and I love being around them as much as humanly possible so I can calm down. I have no idea how to use this website lol, I just need advice on how and if I can get a support dog, if it’s possible. Thanks

Hey Caitlink I would like to welcome you to this wonderful online community and would also applaud you for your incredible strength and courage in asking for help it’s something you should be very proud of. I would like to say I’m very sorry that you are currently going through this hard time in your life but I want to say that from my own personal experience and others there is light at the end of the tunnel. I’m not sure about getting a support dog but I recommend you talk to your gp about what you are currently going through and them refer you to a qualified professional and they will guide you in getting the support you need.
hope all is well in the future
regards josh
