I was a competitive Strongman. Competing helped to keep me motivated and driven. Unfortunately due to spinal concerns I had to give it up. When I gave it up I still had goals I was working towards and I know I will never reach them.
Since giving up Strongman I have applied myself with the ambition of competing in Powerlifting (Bench only)... now that has become unrealistic.
I am struggling to accept this and I currently have nothing to motivate me. I don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything.
I don't feel like I contribute to anything.
I just feel "here"

Hey Marto slash Charlie Mopps,
sorry to hear you had to give up your true motivating factor due to injuries and then your goal of powerlifting. However you can still contribute. Spending some time working as a pt myself I know the value of experience and also the feeling of accomplishment when you’re able to help others. You no doubt have learnt a lot of lessons along the way and gained incredible insight and experience. Have you considered utilising your skills and coaching others? Just a thought.
Regards
Dan

Hi Marto slash Charlie Mopps,
Thank you for reaching out on the forums.
I am sorry to hear of your injury and the impact that it has had on your mental health and your life more broadly. Physical limitations can be extremely challenging to particularly when they prevent us from moving toward the goals we would like to. I can certainly understand that you are lacking motivation as a result.
When we lose something important to us, it can feel as though we have lost EVERYTHING. Perhaps now can be an opportunity to explore what other values you have. What else inspires you? If you were feeling motivated, what else might you be doing?
I wish you the best for your physical and mental recovery

As I was reading your post..the first thing I thought of was..maybe you could train others as you have loads of experience....as Fliptheswitch has suggested...
Im really sorry that your struggling with spinal concerns..It’s really very sad when our body won’t let us do what we love doing...
Please try hard to not give up as many young people will benefit from your competitive nature...
