Just Need Some Support

Hi all

Like many people, I have struggled through my life with depression.

I have found that recently my depression has been increasing due to various reasons, feelings of worthlessness, diminished the ability to think, concentrate and to make constructive comments back to those who are asking for help.

I am proud of the support I have provided to people in my 15 years on the forums although some advice isn't accepted, but we genuinely hope to spread light on why they are feeling depressed --------------

I know others, as well as myself, have had a relapse with their depression and how it has affected them, to know that one simple trigger to anything could cause this to happen.

Has your depression become worse through personal or work related issues!

Any support you can provide me during this difficult time would be really appreciated.

Geoff.

Morning Everyone, you can't imagine how much all your comments have made me begin to feel better and have steered me back onto track out of this relapse.

They have been invaluable to my recovery and I will honour them all with pride and high esteem.

I have followed your advice and had a few days off, so thank you all once again and I will never forget the support you have offered to me with all your very kind replies, once again, thank you all so much. Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

Wishing you an even better day today! May there be many moments when you feel like life certainly is worth it!

Cheers to you from Dools

My Very Dear Geoff

I know this seems very belated and so it is. I know I responded to you when you first posted but my reply is not there. That's happened a couple of times lately and I cannot find a reason. Well not unless I am losing the plot.

You know how much I admire your dedication to BB and the many people you help. Certainly I know you were there for me when I started posting. Now it's time for you to relax a little. I also know from my own experience it's hard to do this. Admitting you need help is one of the hardest things things to do I find.

I know your help and expertise is not only for BB but for the neighbours you help and support. You are a champion in every sense of the word.

Geoff, you know how to manage this set back and we all know how hard it can be no matter how much we understand about this wretched depression. I'm so pleased you are feeling better.

Mary

It's wee hrs of the morning Geoff and I'm wondering if you're up? Laughing! Of course you are!

I want to repeat something James wrote in his post to you;

'I don't have much more to say except you are a sufferer of mental illness, just as much as you are a survivor of it and a support to others who suffer'

I want to celebrate your presence here instead of focusing on your depression if that's ok. You're a survivor of an impeccable calibre. I do hope you realise this.

James' comment sums it up pretty well my friend. Your undying commitment to life and others while enduring your own demons, is a wonderful reflection of Geoff the man; Geoff the Father; Geoff the brother; Geoff the friend and confidant; Geoff the Champion; Geoff the survivor and Geoff the lover of small animals. 🙂

Please take my words seriously when I say it's been an honour typing away along side you on this journey we call recovery thru helping others.

You ARE a generous legend my friend! These members who've taken time to wish you well is a tribute to that.

Kind thoughts;

Love Sez xo

dear All, I had this sitting in my bottom tab bar since the 5/1/18 and want to thank everyone for their lovely additional comments, and yes I am a survivor but no different than anyone else, but depression can be like a yo-yo, it comes and then goes, we all know this, but it bounces back up and that's what we have to remember.

My English Lit has failed greatly due to what happened to me 35 years ago and only wish I could write as well as all of you do, but I get by.

Yes, my little dog takes pride, she comes first, as she's sleeping next to my feet and does take up 90% of the bed if I let her, that I don't mind at all.

I will print out this thread and keep all your beautiful, generous and lovely replies at hand, thank you all so very much. Geoff.

Hi Geoff

Our mini foxy is 61/2 yo. She is such a clean and loving dog. She sleeps between us also, so not much room left for her.

Im in my 60's now also, 62 next month. Im just entering my twilight period and it isnt fun physically especially carrying so much weight. But I cope much better when I google my beloved Maharaji sunset youtube video. He lifts me.

We champs are indeed among the humble of the world. We aren't paid, we place others needs for support above our own, we spend time on these people when we have our own stuff to do and we havecto learn so much. We are impaired individuals and your history of challenges and ill health has taken its toll. How honorable of you.

My dad was a very good man. He was almost obsessed with "doing the right thing". He had words of great wisdom, patience and love even though he never hugged me past my 5th birthday. And he had humility. Im not religious but I saw a movie on the saint of humility thats name escapes me. That man reminds me of my father.

Every now and then I meet men that reminds me of him. My kind father.

And one of them is you. Whenever I meet you for the first time, expect a hug.

Hi Geoff,

I thought I would visit you here to see how you are getting along now. Its been a few weeks since you've posted here.

Of course I am also aware that you've since retired from your Community Champion role with BB. Its good to see that you are still very active in doing what you do very well however - welcoming newcomers and supporting them.

Firstly I am interested to hear how you are. And secondly, because of my own MH and my husbands ill health, I have been convinced this week that I need to resign my own part time job. Meaning I am having lots of thoughts about it all and concern over how I'm going to cope without having work to go to. Its been an escape for me in the past, as well as providing some weekly spending money to cover normal household costs. I'm worried.

Anyway Geoff, I hope your own health is improving.

Amanda

Gday Geoff, hope your pok mate. don't stress yourself round here eh and let people give to you for once huh. and don't worry about any glam writing l'm about as dyslexic as they come and no one's compliained yet her e so l think your safe.

Hear ya tony , wish dad was still around because unfortunately l didn't realize the man and dad he was until his last 6 yrs or so.

l wish ,mum and dad were here just so that l could tell them both some stuff like that.

Hi Amanda, thanks for your lovely comment, that means the world to me in saying this, it's lovely to know that you have people who actually look out for you.

I'm doing OK thanks and maybe it's my OCD that has kept me on the site for 15 years, I don't know but I have no worries being here because there is a purpose and no one can take that away from me only I can

I'm so sorry that you may have to stop work as it was a place where some spending money could be provided but really concerned about your own MH as well as your husband's health because both of these are so important.

Please let me know how you are going.

Hi Random, it's great to hear from you as well and there won't be any glam writing, that stopped 35 years ago after I developed a blood clot.

My best. Geoff.
