Is it just my anxiety or is it undiagnosed depression?

Lately I’ve been feeling much worse than I always do. This is bad because I usually feel pretty down because of my GAD (diagnosed by a professional when I was 5 years old). At first I thought it was just puberty and anxiety but it didn’t go away. I haven’t told anyone about this and I think I should. Can anyone help me figure out if this is just a phase or will it stay? Also it could be genetic because my dad has depression. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense I’ve been struggling to type proper sentences

Hello WinterRin

Welcome too and thankyou for your thread topic!

I understand your feelings with anxiety as I used to have the same as yourself and any level of anxiety can be awful to have. Just from my own experience if a parent has depression or anxiety it doesnt mean we will..

Hey Winter Rin,

Maybe you're all good with the resources the others provided, but I wanted to respond anyway...

I've had anxiety ever since I can remember, although I wasn't diagnosed until quite recently (in my 30s) and didn't realise how much it affected me, as I always thought it was depression. It took me ridiculously long to realise that anxiety was a major trigger for my depression.

So what you're saying does make a lot of sense to me, and it might be good to talk to someone if you're feeling that way for a while (or again in the future). I found talking to a GP easier than someone I knew well for some reason. The first time was still hard, that was 9 years ago, but it does get easier.

I hope you're better already by now. All the best!
