I’m so depressed i’ve barely left my bed in days. i got a letter from my phycologist who suggest going from full time 5 days a week to 3 days a week to see if i managed better. i can count on one hand the amount of days i’ve gone to work in the past 2 months, i’m scared i’m going to lose my job but my mental health is crippling and the longer i put off going back the harder it is to. i feel so lonely and weak. it’s just getting worse but i can’t bring myself to reach out to the ones close to me, i physically just can’t do it and i’m so scared that my depression has gotten this deep

Thank you for your bravery and opening up to our supportive community, we are here for you and want you to know that this is a safe space to talk about how you're feeling.
We know things are difficult right now and are sorry to learn that this is impacting your day to day duties. Your psychologist has given you some steps to ensure you are taking care of yourself and we urge you not to feel guilt about this. Is it possible you can speak to your Pscyhologist about some strategies to assist you in returning to work?
Our community may also have some tips they can share with you to help you through. If you feel up to it, our friendly Support Service Counsellors are available 24/7 online or over the phone 1300 22 4646.

Hi marnieelizabeth,
Welcome to the forums and thank you for reaching out.
I'm sorry things have been so difficult for you. It must be so exhausting to feel that your situation is getting worse, with no help at hand.
I agree with Sophie_M that you should speak to your psychologist about this. Have you told him/her that you are having difficulty returning to work?
Your psychologist suggesting that you go from 5 days a week to 3 suggests that he/she thinks you will be able to cope, and that's a good sign. Has your psychologist suggested coping strategies and is it possible for you to use these to help yourself on the days you don't have appointments? I know it can feel like you're all alone sometimes and in a dark pit, but it is possible to heal and I hope you can believe in that.
Do speak to your psychologist if you feel like the current arrangement isn't working for you. I hope you will be able to connect with people in our community who are struggling with depression as you are and find some support there as well.
Take care,
M

Hi Marnieelizabeth.
Might I ask what has triggered this depression?
You don’t have to say, if can’t talk about it...
