The psychiatrist has taken me off the anti deppresant meds and put me on mood stabilizers as the cycling between the highs and the lows is an indicator that I may now have developed bipolar 2 rather than depression... will be interesting to see the affects over the next few days...
Hope everyone is having a good day

Dear Mrs C
That's pleasing news to hear from you again and also that you seem as though you're settling into the clinic ok. I guess it must have been a reasonably long flight, yeah?
Interesting assessment by the psychiatrist - as always though, I hope that you will be in good hands and that they'll be able to work with you and help you along.
At least you're there now, so just a matter of seeing how things pan out.
Good luck with it all.
Kind regards
Neil

Hi Mrs Cam,
Great to hear things are going well. Trying new medications is always a long hard process. I hope they can work something out for you.
As for switching forums, you can post in any and all of these forums. I myself post in about five different topics on here. So don't feel you need to leave us just because you have a different diagnoses, though the other conditions forum does have some good posts on bipolar, amongst other things.
Hope to hear back from you,
GA

Wasnt too long of a day yesterday. Left home just before 7am for the 50 min bus ride to the airport then the flight is 1hr 45 min to Perth. Took a taxi to the clinic and got here around noon. A friend of mine was on the same bus/ flight so that was good to help pass the time... couldnt hold back the tears in the taxi which I think was a combination of nerves & exhaustion....The clinic seems like a lovely place so that is good.
Doing a stress management group this afternoon then starting group therapy in the morning...
Take care

Thanks for your reply.
The new med thing is a bit to get my head around as Ive been on the other one off & on for 15 years. It is the only one Ive ever taken.
I have had a bit of a look at the other forum this morning. I think I will continue to participate in both at this stage...
Take care

Hi Mrs Cam.
Very interesting. See in 2003 I was falsely diagnosed with bipolar 1. Took medication for that for 7 years. Then 2009 diagnosed correctly this time for bipolar 2 and dysthymia, anxiety and depression.
I was prescribed mood stabilisers for the bipolar 2. And AD's for depression. The mood stabilisers have been a revelation. So good. Zero side effects for me and doing the job.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mrs Cam,
Im pleased that you've found the help and support of a specialist clinic. I hope now you will get the treatment you deserve and a much needed break from the daily routine of life. Just remember that your diagnosis is just a label that medical professionals use to assess the right treatment for you. You are always you, and how you feel is most important. Take each day as it comes while adjusting to the change in medication.
Im glad that you will attend the group while you're there, and we will always be here should you need a place to seek extra support, no matter which forum you post under.
Warmest wishes
AGrace

Hi Mrs Cam
A few years into my depression I was prescribed a mood stabiliser. My moods were literally one v good week, one week curled up on the settee crying. I was kept on my ADs. The psychiatrist said I hadn't got bi polar but acknowledged the mood swings. The mood stabiliser has been fantastic. Although I'm in a depression just now and experiencing the roller coaster I have to admit the lows are not that low. I'm struggling with the constant change in mood. There are a number of MS now and it's great you're trying it. Whether it's Bi polar 2 or just bog standard depression like mine a mood stabiliser does what it says on the tin.
Take care, Helen

dear Mrs. Cam, I'm pleased that you are there safe and sound.
Just keep posting here on this page as it will be passed onto the various forum which BB do.
People can be hesitant about trying a new medication after being on it for so long, as they feel anxious about their support being taken away from them, however it's always still there if this other medication doesn't work, but you have to look at it this way, that this particular drug hasn't been able to help you, so our fingers are crossed as I'm sure yours are.
You now have 24/7 care so if there are any problems they can attend to it straight away.
Good luck, and pleae keep us posted. L Geoff. x
