I feel like I've tried everything

Seachel
Community Member
I'm lost and no longer know what to do to help myself, I've tried multiple types of antidepressants, I've seen therapists, counsellors and even been into a mental health clinic, even though I was stubborn and didn't want to be there at all. I don't know what else to do because I still feel so empty and sad every day. I don't want to wake up of a morning time anymore.

dear Seachel, thanks for joining us, but under extreme circumstances.

It seems as though you are still in denial, and please correct me if I'm wrong, and I only say this because you didn't want to be there, plus you were stubborn, which also indicates to me that you didn't belong there.

There are a couple of concerns here and 1) is that you feel as though these counsellors can't help you because you have personally tried to correct any problems by yourself and then if you can't do it then no one else can help you, just saying, 2) that you do feel sad but can't work out a simple reason why, just saying.

This may seem to be a bit hard on you, but I never have any intention to hurt you.

I hope that you can get back to us and tell us a little more, so that we know how to advice and help you some more. Geoff.

Hi Seachell

Love the name by the way … it’s also great that our wonderful friend Geoff, our longest serving member on Beyond Blue forums has reached out to you.  The knowledge and advice that this man has and posts out to others is just phenomenal.  He’s raised a couple of concerns that he has after reading your post and like myself, it’d be awesome if you could get back to us with a little more information that will help us be able to give you guidance.

Are you currently seeing a GP or psych?   And are you on any meds at the moment?

And though you’ve said you’ve seen a number of different professional people in the past, to me it sounds like you’re trying to deal with this on your own?  Which is an awful way to be … this illness thrives when the sufferer tries to deal with things without support – for me, it’s a no win situation as it will just consume you.

It’s great that you’ve come to Beyond Blue and to reach out … I just hope that we can give you some advice along the way that will be able to assist you.

I’m not sure if you know, but on this site, Beyond Blue have listed a whole host of GP’s who are trained in dealing with mental health issues and so if you were to do a search here, you should be able to narrow some down to your own specific local area.  To me, that’d be a great place for you to go next to try and move forward from where you currently are.

But Seachell, it would be fantastic to hear back from you whenever you feel comfortable or able to do so.

 Kind regards

Neil
