I am happy, medicated, but still feel so down sometimes?

My GP told me it was normal. Just thought I would have a go at asking outside of the medical society?? Cheers

Hi Jaystar.

It can be frustrating having followed the doctors orders and still feeling down some days. I think if the doctor says it is normal I would trust him because they have a lot of training in this area. I am not trained in medical/medication etc so I think he is right.

Now for me I have GAD and depression and I follow the doctors orders too and I am mostly happy but do feel down sometimes. It may last for a day, a few hours or a few days etc. I think I am normal and by the sounds of it we are in the same boat. Even for people without depression they have bad days every now and again.

Sorry I went about it a weird way, but on the forums we need to remind people that we are not doctors and we need to trust them on areas of treatment, diagnosis and medication.

I hope you have less bad days and more good days and continue to be happy. 🙂

Hi Jaystar,

Welcome to the forums.

I think that's normal to feel down at times, we can't all be happy 24/7... as much as we'd love it. Things will get us down every now and again but it's how we rise back up when we are down that shows progress. You're first two words in your title were "I'm happy" so you know you are and that is very positive. I wouldn't get down about feeling down though... we all have good and bad days regarding our emotions. We just want more good days than bad ones that's all.

My best for you.

Jay

Jay (BballJ) you worded that so well. I struggled to write it down so I tried my best but you worded it perfectly 🙂 Thanks

Hey Jay

Thanks for having the courage to post

Your GP is spot on. Very normal to be feeling down...just a part of the roller coaster ride that anxiety/depression throws at us. I take meds as well for depression.

The meds provide us with a platform on which we can heal using all the various coping techniques that we learn along the way.

my kind thoughts

Paul
