I am feeling completely unable to change

I am feeling completely unable to change, barely coping and worried about my job, what people think of me. I am seeing gp, phsycoligist and would like to attend any recovery activities , as health practitioner's aren't helping much. Seeking out assistance, ta.

Hi Guest

Welcome to Beyond Blue and well done on finding this site and then doing a post.

Have you been suffering with these kinds of symptoms for sometime now?  I’m guessing that it has been a while if you’ve already got GP’s and a psych assisting you – although the word “assisting” might be cause for some debate, considering how you labelled them as not being of much help – which is a big shame.

Did your GP recommend the psych that you’re seeing?  I think a lot of us on this site have sure seen mega numbers of psychs before we find the right one … I know I speak 100% for myself on this … so it doesn’t overly surprise me that perhaps your psych might not be the ‘perfect fit’ for you.  That would be just amazingly lucky beyond your wildest dreams if the first psych that you dealt with was “the one”.

There is no shame or harm in trying to seek out another psych … either by yourself, or with assistance from either your GP or from this website – perhaps you could call the number at the top of the page and they may be able to assist you with finding a suitable psych in your local area?

I have to admit that I don’t really know about ‘recovery activities’ and so I’m unable to advise on that, but I’m sure there’ll be plenty of other people on this site who might be able to come up with some suitable responses for you in that regard.

I do hope you can hang around here for a while and post back if you feel ok to do so.

Kind regards

Neil
