Hi Guys
I was wondering if anyone was diagnosed with Major Depression and prescribed an antidepressant once a day I was, after spending 5 weeks in a mental health ward. It worked great for 2 years but the past 2 weeks I am starting to slip back into the Black Hole I was in. Just wondering if anyone has been the same way
Bless you all

Hi Uniting, welcome
I've been misdiagnosed leading to 6 years of taking the wrong medication. Then trying several meds before I got the right "mix" some mood stabilisers and a low amount of antidepressant.
What I have learned is that one cannot under estimate the importance of regular GP visits to keep an eye on your mood, mental health etc - to mildly adjust your meds or change them...its all in those visits.
So in the last 6 years since the correct diagnosis, bipolar 2, dysthymia and depression (original diagnosis was bipolar 1 and ADHD), I've had few adjustment to my meds however my AD's have gone up and down a little depending on my mental state.
But I wont ever go off my meds again. Did once- that experience nearly lost me some loved ones.
Hope that helps.

Hi uniting,
Yeah, I still get low mood periods whilst on meds. But they aren't as bad as when I was not on any meds. For me, shifts in my mood are not necessarily about my meds. Low dips generally are a result of external stuff, like how xmas is coming up and my anxiety and depression are sneaking in. I actually think that my meds are working harder for me during these times, as they help me from sinking any deeper into depression.
Has anything changed in your life recently or is about to change? Anything different that might be stressful?
Maybe some talk therapy could help you. But a review on your medication might be beneficial.
You're not alone in this. ET
