Here I am, but still in denial

Azee

Hi everyone,

I have taken many online depression tests and all came back with results stating I havesevere depression.
I read about depression, the symptoms, the feelings, everything, and I am in shock at how closely it describes everything about me.

I know I have had depression for many years and yet I am still in denial.
I could go on forever, but I want to keep this short.

Thanks for reading.

Hi

im so sorry to hear about your condition, I know how hard it is to cope with. I was diagnosed with "permanent anxiety disorder" which was horrible... I am still functioning quite well, I do believe that the label of an illness is quite chocking and I wish you all the best. Please hang in there, there's still a future and a life ahead of you:-)

Hi Azee,

Welcome and thanks for posting. I think depression is a scary thing to have to be diagnosed with because it's just natural for humans to think that these things will never happen to them! However, depression is extremely common and I know that plenty of other people here on the forums would have gone through the same thing as you at some point in time. I think it is just really important to accept depression and not let it define you. By saying this, I don't mean to let it take over your life and ruin everything, I just mean to say "Yes, you're here, now what do I do?" Fortunately, depression is highly treatable and there are many ways for you to get help such as the chat service here on beyond blue.

Take care,

Steph
