Flat!

I'm sure everyone has found times where they are having continuously flat and emotionless periods of depression? What are ways you cope with this? What helps you get out of these periods?

Hey there Emgirl

Welcome 🙂

Yep I've been there and this may not be the best advice but I run myself silly literally - I do interval sprint training, 5km jobs - I just keep going until my exhausted and my legs are so sore. The pain in my body physically soon takes over the pain mentally and sort of provides enough relief to 'snap' me into gear.

Maybe not the greatest advice but it seems to work for me!

Would be interested in what others have to say?

Hi Emgirl, welcome to BB. Its great to 'meet' you.

I so related to your post. It takes so much energy to do anything or to find enjoyment in anything we usually find interesting.

Some things that might help is exercise (as 150lashes suggested). It could be as simple as a walk in the sunshine (getting some vitamin D helps with depression) or could be a 10 kilometer run. (not a chance I could to the run tho! lol) Eating healthily, getting enough sleep, meeting a friend for coffee or lunch, finding a hobby like drawing, photography, knitting etc.

I found making a little ritual or routine of making myself a cuppa tea, sitting in my favourite chair and watching the world go by is helpful. Its self soothing and self caring.

The best advice I ever got for when I'm flat as a pancake was to be extra nice to myself.

I hope you find a way to do that. If it's ongoing flatness, you may need to make an appointment with your doctor to talk about medication dosages.
