ECT side effects

I am 69 and have had 7 treatments of ECT two months ago and feel that it has helped me a lot with my depression for which I still take the same medication for. Apart from the expected minor memory loss and confusion I find I have lost a lot of my self confidence. I was a ‘Lets try anything’ guy before the treatment but now I am nervous of trying something new. 
Has anyone else experienced this and/or did it wear off over time.
