First time here and not very good at talking about my feelings. For the last 6 weeks or so i have been feeling extremely down about my self. I feel worthless . Depressed. Sad and tired. I feel that the world is out to get me and the walls are closing in on me. I constantly have anxiety attacks and break downs.

Hey Cam084 I too have had some rough time many years ago, the good thing about being an older codger now is that you understand that the expression this too shall pass is quite correct. Just know that there is s good chance that he thoughts and feelings you have now are very common in fact most people have them at one stage or another, so you are not alone. The fact that you are here in the world you are totally unique is important. Sometimes we a get caught up in what we don't have rather than what we do have, we measure and compare yourself with others and focus on the lack rather than what we have, If you can take some time out be with friends, spend some time in nature, spends some time in a quiet spot and have a chat with your self and tell you how fantastic you are. Hi Cam084,

welcome to beyond blue.

While you post might be short, and you said that you were not good at talking about feeling, you did a pretty good job in your first post.

my own dad (late 70s) recently started to see a psychologist. He was never good at talking about his feeling, but has now realised that he needs to talk with someone. If you asked him how he was, it might say "down" or "anxious" and if you prodded him for more information he could not tell you why. Even if you asked him what he was thinking about he would reply "anxious".

I have been dealing with depression and anxiety (diagnosis) for about 1.5 years. Things just got too much for me...

I found a K10 test on the beyond blue web site and completed that, and it suggested I have a chat with my GP. I did that, and was referred to a psychologist for a second opinion. The difference between how I thought I was vs the reality were two different things. Suffice to say that I have regular sessions with a psychologist now.

Like myself, there are other users here that manage to deal with the things that life throws at us, some days better than others. And I am listening to you and want you to know that you are not alone here. Things can get better with the right help and support from family, friends and this space here if needed.

I hope you come back and tell a little more of your story.

Tim
