Hey All,
I am new here, I haven't ever used something like this before but I just need someone to talk to who actually understands what depression is like. This maybe a long shot, but I was hoping to find someone on here to keep in contact with and be able to talk to, essentially a friend. But unlike all my other friends, I need someone who I can actually tell of my past and of my current experiences of depression. I tend to keep a lot of people at arms length because I am always deathly afraid they're going to reject me or leave anyway, so I guess using the internet to me seems slightly safer (although posting this is making me feel extremely anxious still).
I wondering if anyone else was looking or needed a friendship like this?
Looking forward to any responses.

Hi IronKitty,
I think you have found the perfect place to find people to talk too... starting this thread is like you're own little story line and anyone who replies can generally see when you post on your thread, I check posts I have replied too each time I come on so will always see if you reply. You are more than welcome to talk here and I will always reply when I am on the forums which is quite frequent as I am sure many others will as well. These are non-judgemental forums and a safe space as well. It's a great step that you have decided to post, I understand it has made you anxious but hopefully seeing a reply will help ease that - please feel free to post a little about your story or stuff you wish to talk about.
My best for you,
Jay

Hi Ironkitty
Welcome and good on you for having the courage to post!
BballJ (Jay) has really covered all the bases as he usually does.
Posting can be nerve racking for sure. I joined the forums in Jan 2016 after being made redundant and it took me a couple of months to create my own thread as I didnt have the guts you have (seriously)
Ive had depression for 21 years and still driving the rocky road to recovery. I can be here for you just as Jay has offered to do, when we are online.
Either way there are many gentle people that can be here for you 🙂
I really hope you can stick around the forums
my kind thoughts for you
Paul

These two guys won't run away from you nor will I, just as the many other people on the site won't either, we appreciate that it can be difficult to start opening up, but we aren't going anywhere, and want to be friends with you. Geoff. x
