Hi Muscat. I am sorry to hear about your situation. I can relate with depression, but I don't have anxiety issues. I too am having major issues (after my husband kicked me out of the house), but we are not here to talk about me. You sound so sad, I just want to go to you and take you out for a coffee. The family may not try to understand, believe me, I get it, but there are some of us here who really would like to try and help.

Welcome to the forums. I think you came to the right place to ask for help.
I understand how you're feeling. I'm also a mum who had severe depression but I got through it, and I can tell you that there is a way out.
If you're not in treatment at the moment, I'd suggest you book an appointment with a GP, that can then refer you to a mental health professional. Medication and therapy are a great help with depression.
This is the 1st step, and once you start with the treatment, you will start feeling better.

What I would try and do is ask your doctor if they can give you a house call, where they will probably prescribe medication to help you with your anxiety, but even if this is done it's going to take you awhile to be able to leave the house, but suggest you google 'desensitisation'.
It's a program which you can do by yourself, but preferably it would be better if you could begin it with the help of a psychologist,
Lt's say you start off with by going to the front door, and then open it until you feel comfortable, so you do this several times until you can put a foot outside, again until you're satisfied, and then slowly continue, but read up on it and see whether it helps.
It's a program where you do something until you feel happy about and take it to another step. Geoff.

Hi Muscat,
I am really sorry to hear this, you sound like you are having an awful time. Firstly, I understand what you mean by feeling like you are letting your family down. I think you should remember that having anxiety and depression is not your fault, so you should not feel like you are letting people down. I would try and think about why you feel that you cannot leave the house, what it is that is making you shake and feel terrible. I use to study at uni and once my anxiety of talking in front of people led me to the point that I stopped attending my classes and I eventually quit. Although, it wasn't what I wanted to do, when I look back now all of my decisions were clouded by my own fear of being judged and feeling like I wasn't smart enough to talk in front of people. I would try and explain to your family how you are feeling, talk them through what is going through your mind so they can try and understand a little better. Talking to a GP might be a good idea, like Geoff said they can make house calls. I know it seems hopeless now, but keep trying to leave the house each day, try and find something positive to focus. Remember that you are a wonderful person, that you are a fantastic mother and that you have everything ahead of you, you just have to get out there and experience it. It might take you a while to feel better, it will take time but you have the power to make yourself happy. Positivity and smiling brings happiness slowly. We are all here to support you, to listen and to be here whenever you need people to talk to, you are not alone in this.
