Depression: Advice needed

RonnieW
Community Member

Hi all. After many years of suffering from this damn depression and anxiety I have finally decided to get some help as it's ruined my life. I'm sure that a lot of you know what I'm talking about. The problem is I don't know where to start. What is the process that some of you have gone through to get help? Do I first need to see my GP, or psychiatrist, or phycologist? I have no idea where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Ronnie

It's great to read that you want to get help.  I have been suffering depression and anxiety and BPD for three years. I first went to my GP who referred me to a psychologist to which I am still seeing.  You can get a mental health plan which I think entitles you to 10 visits that you can claim from Medicare.

Good luck with this and keep us in touch
