Does anyone have any advice or experience with applying for disability benefits for a diagnosis of BPD?

I had a diagnosis of Bipolar II for ten years, my psychiatrist has since retired and the current psychs believe I have Borderline Personality Disorder & that I’ve never had Bipolar. Am super stressed about losing my dsp and confused

Hi, welcome

I'm a bit confused.

Your first paragraph said you are "applying" for DSP. Then you said later that you don't want to lose it.

Can you clarify

Hello Em04

BPD is considered a disability and you can continue receiving benefits. The new psychiatrist will need to help you with getting clear about your inquiry. To change from one diagnosis to the other will require your psychiatrist to provide you with some sort of document to reference when contacting Centrelink. You won’t lose your benefits. You’ll just change your diagnosis from one to the other. I hope this helps you.

Hello white knight (TonyWK),

To help clear your confusion; Em04 already has a disability pension for Bipolar II. They are wondering if BPD is considered a disability and that if they still qualify for the pension. They are worried about loosing the pension once changing the diagnosis.
