The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

I’ve got a couple of casuals who only work on the weekends because they’re at school, I thought school holidays they may be available but both are away. I should of been more organised.

Ahah hear you but it's not your fault, you couldn't have predicted that other staff would be away sick. Even if you did, the ones who are away probably would not have changed their plans anyway. The way I see it , it is so out your control - unexpected absences vs preorganised plans. The only thing I see that could have been done differently is that leading up to the holidays as the casuals' availability, but even then, being casuals they may not change plans at short notice.

its all stuff you could not have controlled.

It’s going to be a long day

All you can do is make the best of an imperfect situation. Be prepared to be busy, joke around with customers, Try and lift the mood. Hopefully time will pass quickly.

Country has some very good advice Jacko. Yep, joking with customers is good. Sometimes being honest with them is also good. But i don't know what line of business you're in so maybe it's not the way to go.

You know shyt happens. Holding on to it will on make yourself feel worse. Say to yourself, I'll know for next time. Won't be caught out again.

Morning all just dropping in to say hi and see who's about, and have a coffee. I know soonish I will be out of where I am. But my support worker fails to communicate, or just doesn't listen. I tell her something I am going to do then she will go and do it. Or organize someone else to do it so there is two or three people working on the same problem. Which is why she is there, to make sure that only one person is doing a job. Like I have told her I want mobility as a priority then home. She has home then mobility as the priority. Like I need certain equipment and modifications to the home. Whilst waiting for the aids and equipment I stay here The equipment gets put in place. Then I am home with helpers, because it can take weeks or months to get a team together from scratch. But my support worker who mainly has worked in mental health, doesn't know physical disability as I do. Because that is where I have done my work 30+ years worth. So I have picked up a few things by listening to others and asking the silly questions like "Why?"

Coffee all round - Morning everyone.

Kanga - sounds rough. Gets annoying when you think someone isn't listening. Though I must say, having equipment and modifications done before going home sounds pretty good to me. It will make your life so much easier and your helpers lives too. I suspect this is done partly to do with Work Health and Safety issues for the helpers so they don't injury themselves while providing you with support. Doesn't help you much though for getting out of there.

Anyone want pancakes for brekkie? Pancakes with maple syrup, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and yoghurt. Alternatively you could have some bacon and banana with the maple syrup.

Afternoon all just popping in to say high and see who's been in and what they have had to say.

Me I have been sitting about bored out of my brain. As I wait to get my mobility aid. So I can at least get out and meet real people and do stuff. I need a project to keep the old melon going. But I must be over qualified as I cannot come up with one idea. I had one idea but I have done that one to a point it now is a dead end. Basically I need something to do that can be done on a laptop with internet access, with no printer. Not interested in looking at you tube.I have researched my family tree. ( found out I am related to an ape) I cannot think of anything else.
