The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hi Grandy & everyone
I enjoy omelettes, even if I make a bit of a mess of them. I don't have an omeletter maker, so, you see, I'm still using my frypan on the stove. I like to pre-cook some onion, so it's somewhat caremellised . Then I put that aside & mix up my 2 eggs, with a splash of milk, & may even add a tablespoon of powdered milk, although that is not necessary. Then I finely chop capsicum (if I have some), & thaw some frozen spinnach, grate some cheese. I might have some ham or pre-cook some salmon bits or chicken bits, or I might use some frozen mixed veg.
I have a habit of over filling my omeletttes.
The main thing is I put the cheese on when I am just about to fold the thing over., so when I eat it I'm not wondering where the cheese went. If I put it in the wet egg mix, it seems to disappear.
When I put feta cheese, it doesn't melt properly. Using some of each. feta & tasty chedder is fine.
As I'm reducing how much salt I add to food, I'm not using any with my omelettes. & I don't like pepper anyway. Herbs are a great option, & fresh is best, but I've stirred in herbs from a tube, & some Dukka mix too, at times. If I get fresh parsley I like that in omelettes.
&, if I get fresh strawberries, & the leaves are fresh, I remove them from the berries & use them in an omelette or a salad, too.
I woke up late, late breakfast, so I can now have an omelette for a late lunch Thanks for the idea.

Thanks Paul. It's always good to hear from you.
My feelings about January 26 have become very mixed over the years.
However mixed as my feelings are, I'm up for a sausage sizzle on any day!
Welcome to new members of this BB community.
Welcome new migrants/citizens to this country, too.
I wish I could give you all a copy of the Uluru Statement from the Heart & an indigenous trees/bushes/flowers to plant.

Today, to warm, I was happy to have another swim in my support worker's pool. Her dogs had a fun time too, when we'd throw the ball for them to chase by jumping in the pool & swimming for it. It's so funny, the old est dog seems to be priveledged with the honour of having the ball in her mouth, so she decides when to drop it to me or my wupport worker to throw, no matter which caught it last time. The youngest dog is getting much better at not jumping on people in the pool, so we could have more fun with them today.
We had a break for a BBQ lunch/sausage sizzle. Her hubby cooked. They have a very good butcher, it seems, if the sausages were anything to go by.
So, today, I have some sausages, bread rolls, onion, tomato, beetroot & cheese, & sauces if you like. Please enjoy!

Hello OTR! [LRC purrs & does figure 8's around OTR's legs] Great to see you again.
Tonight I had some basmati rice with caramelised onion, edamame, salmon & teriyaki sauce for dinner. Would you like some? I made plenty. It's getting so late, I'm ready for a snack.
I'm glad I stayed up so late - being able to say 'hello' to you makes it worth it!
I only wish I could go to my support worker's pool every day.
How you keeping cool?

mmMekitty,
I'm back at the BB Café! Basmati rice sounds DELICIOUS, and I love some edamame so I think I'll join you for some!
I'm really into dried apricots lately, so I'm bringing some dried fruit to share with our Café crowd. If anybody enjoys some dried fruit, please help yourself.
How's your summer going mmMekitty?

Hello everyone,
I’m a bit late but happy Australia Day Paul, mmMeKitty,On the Road, sbella and everyone…
I loved reading about you enjoying, swimming in your support workers pool, and the dogs also interacting with you…that’s so cute..and the sausage sizzle yum…
I’ve not tried Basmati rice before, I do like rice and enjoy making fried rice, curry chicken/prawns and rice…What is the difference between normal white rice and basmati rice?..
You’re omelette sounded yummy, mmMeKitty, I never thought of spinach and cheese in an omelette before, so I made on the other night and I did enjoy it….I have bought many times cheese and spinach sausage rolls…cheese and spinach is a great combination…
Its been so hot in the central west part of NSW… plenty of outdoor hose showers for me…😂..Weather app says we have hot weather again this week everyday mid 30s with storms forecasted each evening…hopefully some rain will come with the storms…
Tonight I’m having corn on the cob…brought heaps in…I wrap a corn cob in plastic food wrap and microwave it for 3 minutes, wait unlit it’s cooled of a bit, then spread some butter over it with salt n pepper..before I eat it…
Hope everyone is having a nice day today..
hugs everyone.
Grandy..

Hello everyone,
Grandy your weather sounds horrible... thankfully the hot burst here has eased & I'm back to the 20s for this week.... I do hope you get some rain... there were lovely light showers here yesterday after missing all the rain the hit Vic earlier this week.
mmMekitty I have to join Grandy in asking what is Basmati rice like...
Pondering thought for today.... Why is the word nut in the name Arnott's Ginger Nut Biscuits???...🤔🤔 they don't contain nuts & ginger doesn't come in a nut... (yep I do ponder some weird things 🙄)
Hugs

Hello Grandy, SB & everyone
I'll have a piece or two of those dried apricots, SB, thanks. - not to many. [LRC grins. pleased to have just a couple]
I made some tinned pears into pear pieces in jelly.
The main differences between ordinary white rice & basmati rice seem to be that the white basmati rice I hought has more calories & a little more fibre (but not like brown rices) & has a lower G.I. than the usual white rice, & basmati rice is supposed to have a nutty flavour & smell. I cna't say I notice that much. I like that that is has a lower G.I., so I won't feel hungry too soon after eating a meal with basmati rice. You cook it the same way as the usual white rice.
& because it's finally got rather warm & excessively humid, I don't want to cook. I did just boil up a little potato for my vegie salad, which includes: (from frozen) green beans, carrot peas, corn & spinnach; then, from the fridge: a boiled egg, feta cheese & basil pesto. By then it was a big salad, so I didn't add the tomato or the olives.
I keep thinking it's so humid it ought to be raining... & I get really uncomfortable as if it is much hotter than it actually is. When I feel like that I get grumpy & impatient. I turn my fan up high for a few minutes, standing under it. If that doesn't help enough, I go for a cool shower.
It does rather make it hartd to want to do anything. but sit here at my computer, or (as I did today), snooze through it.
A cooling evening breeze would be nice, or some cooling rain, too, but not too much.
