The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Good morning BB Cafe friends,
Catching up on the food talk…
mmMekitty, I now want a lemonade scone with fresh cream and strawberry jam. The last time Ihad one was possibly 3 years ago. On a cruise around Lakes Entrance, another beautiful place on the Victorian coast. They served afternoon tea as part of the deal. They were so light and fluffy.
I am not sure about hot cross buns yet. I have had good ones from a bakery but now that the supermarkets are putting chocolate chips in them and the caramel mocha flavour which I do like by the way, but I find them a bit heavy.
I am not a pineapple on pizza fan, but I think the funniest of all is my American son in law, who, when in Australia orders the Aussie Pizza every time he sees it on a menu. The first time he visited he ordered an Aussie Burger. He was so proud of himself until it arrived with a huge slice of beetroot in it. Now he’s not dumb but asked what’s that purple thing? And what’s it doing in a burger? We had to reassure him that it was good. That’s the Aussie part of the burger. He did attempt it but removed it after one bite. We were in a pretty hipster burger joint and the staff all laughed. They told him that the burger was free if he managed to eat the beetroot. That and he would be the first American customer to have ever finished the beetroot. My daughter ate it for him and we paid for lunch.
The vey last time they visited in March 2020 and we played the dinner party game, what would be your last meal if on D**th Row… my son in law’s last meal is Aussie Pizza… his logic is that it would take a few days before the chef figures out what that actually means.
Time to re-start my day. Have a lovely one. Fiatlux 🙏🏼

Very funny memory, Fiatlux.
Reminds me, another Aussie favourite is the Beetroot & Cheese sandwich. One of my bros took a liking to that one.

Hi Paws, If I have the pizza with the pineapple on it, & you have the pinapple fritters, we'll both be happy! We just won't look at what each other is eating.... sitting back to back ought to work. 😹

Hello everyone…..🤗..
All this talk of food is making me hungry…I like both pineapple and banana fritters….also pineapple on pizzas…I’ll take one of each please…
my favourite pizza topping is salami, cheese, anchovies and olives….Been maybe 10 years since I bought a pizza from a pizza place…no pizza places around my area..
I mostly had peanut butter sandwiches at school…I still like them today, another favourite of mine is Vegemite with cheese…..both are really nice on buttered weetbix…instead of bread for a change..
Enjoy your night everyone….hugs🤗.
Grandy..

Fiatlux, it's the 1970's when I first heard of this filling combination. I enjoy making myself a beetroot & cheese sndwich sometimes, as well as tomato sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, & when the weather is cold, I especially like toasted cheese sandwiches.
Lately, I've been enjoying going to a certain sandwich shop & having a 6inch rye bread roll with tuna, cucumber, tomato & spinach, & sometimes adding capsicum. The combination feels refreshing.
Grandy, I've never liked peanut paste/butter in a sandwich. I have liked peanut butter biscuits, though... but not satay.... yet like occasional nutty chocolate... but not so much on ice cream cones.
I'm making myself hungry, now ...

Good Evening Dear BB Cafe friends,
mmMekitty, I haven’t bought a tin of beetroot in a while but growing up we always had to have beetroot ready to add to a salad or even as a side dish. I think I have had a lot more roasted beetroot with a Sunday roast lately. Beetroot is full of good vitamins. I think I will start adding it to my shopping list again. I love whole baby beets as well. But boy does beetroot juice stain everything. I have worn gloves if peeling them.
No doubt anyone having beetroot in a salad sandwich has had the beetroot slip out and land straight into their lap. While so slippery?
I have been craving sweets again and I have been day dreaming about a nice cold trifle. I thought that I could just cheat and buy ready made thick and creamy vanilla custard. I still have sponge fingers from making tiramisu and need to use them up. I have quite a few small pickling jars that I can use to make individual ones. I think I will make them with cherry jelly and dark morello cherries. Might add some Amaretto liqueur and whip up some cream. It’s the perfect summer dessert as it requires no baking. Maybe even add fresh mango.
I totally get it that baking in summer is totally counterproductive if you are trying to keep a house cool.
In the meantime I have just had some lemon yoghurt to satisfy my craving.
Have a great night everyone. FiatLux 🙏🏼

Quirky… don’t deport me please people, the first Vegemite sandwich I was given at a friend’s house… made me gag… it was rank! Now I love it and love lots.
Peanut butter and honey is yum. I like super crunchy peanut butter that is salty. On hot toast it melts and is so satisfying. Not the healthiest but I only have it occasionally
