How to Add a Bookmark Samsung 8

Firstly, you could just BB using your web browser and not close the page, this will keep it permanently loaded and then you just “refresh” it when you use it again.

Or you could add BB as a bookmark, try following this article https://www.techfigs.com/android/how-to-add-bookmark-to-galaxy-s8-and-galaxy-s8-plus-homescreen/

Hope this helps Dory and Meercat best, M 🙂

Hi Mathy. How are you? Thanks for "computer" help. Iv got up to where i put my pic in profile and downloaded one from net to insert but it has disappeared. Iv looked in downloads and gallery. My Phone has "bixby" (like google) could it be saving it. Any clues? Thanks.

Hi meerkat,

It is wonderful you found this thread. Hope it helps. I read some of the posts here and they might as well be written in Russian for all the sense they make to me! Ha. Ha.

Hope you manage to get that photo up soon.

Cheers from Dools

Hi Meercat,

The easiest way to upload a profile pic to BB, is to have it on the photo roll/camera library on your phone.

It would seem, from what you said that you’ve used “bixby” to find an image on the internet that you like. You need to find a way to choose “save image as” - from that web page. On an iPhone, if you press with your finger and hold, I get a menu, one of the choices is “save image”. When I choose that, the image is saved to my photos/camera roll, or whatever it’s called on a Samsung. So go to the place on your phone where images are saved (there is only one icon for that) and have a look through them and see if your profile pic is there.

If it is, then proceed as per my original instructions about using the image on BB.

If not, then post back and we can try and figure out what has happened. Cheers M 🙂

Hi all...I wonder if someone with IT or legal knowledge can advise? When you've been using a computer, updated over the many years...and the actual machine belongs to someone else; Can they demand it back....when all your personal stuff is still stored on the hard drive, or wherever it is ?

who, legally, owns the "information and personal data" on the Computer? the user's info includes ID, passwords, legal and health details and documents, bank details, not to mention the personal emails, photos, correspondence etc.......... If the actual "machine" belongs to someone else, and they demand it back...what happens then? Can the user refuse, saying that they actually "own" the information stored on it?

I am the user...so where do I stand legally if this ever happens?......advice would be appreciated.....Moon S

Dear Moon~

This goes back to what your were talking about before, the original owner of the machine still owns it, together with any software that was installed on it originally.

You own your personal details and data, plus any programs you have installed yourself independently.

If the original owner wants the computer back the thing to do is to firstly take it to a technician who can download all your details, data and programs you own onto an external USB stick or drive. Then wipe your details from the computer (wipe is a technical term for a secure delete that cannot be undone) Wiping is important as it stops the original owner or anyone else having access to your stuff.

It is worth taking time to make sure the technician is told about everything you own so nothing is missed.

You then hand the computer back to the owner.

When you get your own replacement computer you will most probably need the technician to load your details and data back from the external USB device into it and ensures everything works as it should.

This operation may sound simple, in practice it may well not be, depending on what is involved. I'd not recommend you try to do this yourself.

This sort of operation is very common, not a big deal, when computer shops sell new replacement computers they are often asked to to do this.

Thanks Croix. I knew it was not impossible and that I brought it up a long time ago. Of course I cannot do it myself. I assume I would have to stand alongside the technician and point out files etc that I want saved onto another hard drive before I hand the machine back. My Mail Inbox, Outbox, the lot!

It will be a huge job I expect because the machine also contains Work Files that I won't want again. The technician won't know what's the owners and what's mine.

If the owner says "I will pick up the computer tomorrow?"...can I legally say, politely of course.."I'm sorry you can't, not until...etc etc?" (I am hoping the situation does not come to this of course).

I am told the computer can't be operated by anyone else anyway - without my ID security password etc typed in...otherwise it won't even start! The manufacturer technical team talked me through installing it as an extra safeguard against hackers, with which I had a scary episode some time back. No one knows the code but me...so the machine would be useless to the owner anyway wouldn't it?

Dear Moon~

First off it should not be too bad a job because the tech will know where to expect files to be stored. Also probably has the ability to sort between your files and the firms.

If you feel confident you might move the firm's files to a temporary place on the hard disk, however if unsure best let the tech handle it.

No reasonable person is going to demand the computer under the circumstances but should give adequate time for you to remove your files. The best plan is of course to preempt things and get your files off straight away.

Unless you plan on not using a computer you might consider getting one now and transferring everything, so that you are ready to go.

I would not rely upon any password type system to protect your files, the only sure way is to wipe them. In addition if he gave you a working computer to use in fairness you should hand it back unlocked.

Unfortunately I do not see any way you can retrieve our files and install them elsewhere without cost.

An alternative approach is to offer him a small sum for the computer. (Ask a tech for advice on how much)

Hey Moon,

@Croix’ advice about offering a small amount of $$ to purchase the computer is a good idea.

Alternatively, you can buy a 1Tb hard drive with a USB connection (Cost about $100) and back up everything. Then format the hard drive, which will wipe it. Technically a person with the right skills can retrieve information from a formatted drive - up to you whether the other person could be bothered doing this.

You will be able to restore your data to a machine that uses the same operating system as that which is on your current PC. This will probably require either a technician or a friend who has the skills to help you with this.

Technically, if you format the HDD and then re-install the operating system, you are handing back a working computer without your files and details on it.

cheers M 🙂
