Hi people.
The whole music thing has me as confused as these days.
l bought a beautiful stereo about 13yrs ago, it does cd's, also had an iphone plug and l can play my Samsung or computer music through it using a cord plus it also has a media switch for usb but l've never been able to get that to play anything from a usb.
There's well, pretty well everything l don't get though these days, it all seems to have totally changed.
1st of all, what are we suppose to store our music on ?
God almighty l have some on my ph some on my computer some on cd's , some on usb, ldk wth to do.
Can't l have it all just on one thing so that l can play that on the lounge stereo or car or on whatever.
Next is what is a sound system now?
l can't even find any in stores l use to browse them from , Jb, Havey Norman and a few others and speciality sound system stores. None of them have sound systems any more all they have is a few sets of speakers, you use to need a sound system and speakers. not sure what the go is now.
Do the speakers have it all inbuilt to them or something and is that it, is that the sound system?
And if it is how does it work and what to you have your music on to play it or just wth basically ?
ldk , l don't get any of it, l miss the old days of cd's and beautiful sound systems , real ones.
Thanks in advance.

Hi randomx
It's a long time since I last spoke to you, I've been away from the forums for some time. Nice to see you around!
I feel your pain. I don't store music but I do play cds, I'm a mad collector of them, and it's increasingly difficult to find players for them. I purchased my two cd players, which are good ones, from Ebay (brand new). JB Hi Fi still used to sell a couple of sound systems and Dick Smith used to, but I'm not sure if they are in stock when you go into the stores.
I like physical media, I like owning my music and i like cds because I can play the same track on repeat if I want to - and nobody can suddenly decide not to play the music anymore as I own it, and as long as I have a player I can listen to the music I love. I also love the inserts and cover art of my cd collection - and some of them are pretty rare now.
I think you can also purchase sound systems from Amazon. It's a pain you can't try them first or take a close look at them but it seems to be the way of things now. I see vinyl record players all over but not what we used to have, which was a radio/cd and cassette player/speakers etc all in one.
I agree it's a pain, I can only suggest trying online shopping as well as checking with some major stores.

I just had a quick look online randomx and apart from Ebay, Amazon seems to have a couple of good sound systems available, depends how much you want to spend I guess.
I'm sure there must be many of us out here in the wilderness looking for decent players - and don't get me started on cars not having cd players anymore.. I love playing my cds in the car, what a pain!

Gday Hanna same here and thinks for that. l was off for awhile to but back atm.
l've still got cd's to but most music or anything new you get now can usually just be downloaded from over the net somewhere instead now far as l can tell.90% of mine is .
But it;s a real shame bc yeah l really miss all the covers and physically holding your music and yeah playing tracks the way we use to and all of it to but l don't know how else to do it now. Haven't had to pay for a cd now in yrs, or for any music really, but l really don't like the way it is now.
Can't hold it of feel it or organise and you've just gotta play with more gadgets and setups to even listen to it- and often the sounds pretty crap to. l don't like it at all but ldk hth else to do it.

On systems though, l'm confused as hell about all that to now. like mine does a lot of stuff but l don't think they even do it like that any more.
l'm thinking they must just blue tooth their music straight through from their phone to just the speakers, or something, now.
Where as l do need cords and stuff for mine, car to. l'm only guessing though. My d doesn't even know all hers is just on her phone and she listens with ear plugs, l can't stand that.
ldk, it's all just ruining my music now.
Spose l could just stick to cds but it'd cost me a fortune to buy it all now.

Hi randodxx,
I too was still buying cds right up to 2020 and I have a little Sony cd player which I use mainly when I sit outside under our alfresco lounge and play music and read.
I was really disappointed that my new EV doesn’t have a cd player either. It has far too many digital radio stations but I have found ones that play music that I like.
Otherwise I have a Spotify playlist which I add music to and a YouTube music playlist as well. I can listen to these playlists on my devices with headphones while I do gardening and housework. They are convenient.
There has been a resurgence in real vinyl records and turn tables. My eldest son has one and is starting a collection of classic albums. To think that we sold all our old albums from the 70’s and 80’s at a garage sale. My mother actually threw out so many. My aunty gave me her original soundtrack from the musical Hair which I still have. I love the album cover and the songs are groovy. I planned to frame it and hang it as art. I wished I had taken more albums from her as she too was going to just throw them out.
The one good thing about Spotify and the like is that there’s absolutely everything available there if you know what to look for. And it’s free. I don’t pay for subscription.
Have a good night. Fiatlux 🙏🏼

Scuse the title to btw people, sorry about that made a mess of that one didn't l. l'm dyslexic .
At any rate , Spotify now, well l'm glad you've found something that works for you Fiatlux. But crikey l couldn't handle yet another system to learn and figure out, it's all so damn crazy l don't know wth.
But yeah back to vinyl God how nice would that be. Real records and covers and ah man, ldk.
l could settle for cd's but they're pretty well history now to. l could still get all of my music on cd's but then like your car , probably won't even be any dc players soon , their probably aren't now. My system plays them so does my car but my newer music is from the net so no cd's, l've only got 4 or 5 actual cd's now left.
ldk where people store their music now most seem to have it on their phone, my system does play from phones but as l say you need the cord and then you need to leave the phone with it to.
Or else l have to get another phone that can blue tooth and another system that can blue tooth far as l can figure out.
Does my damn head in can't even enjoy music any more it;s just too much hassle.
Another few yrs and there'll be yet another whole new system anyway, and then another and another.

Hi randomxx and all here
There are still lots of people who collect cds - I have a big collection and as you say, I like physically owning them and the inserts and cover art are fabulous. Lots of people on Ebay sell them and they seem to find buyers. i bluetooth my tablet to my phone and play music that way as well - I keep the music in folders so I can return to it. I have friends who have bought a new car and keep a portable cd player in the car with them, that's one solution to the car problem.
But yes randomx I think it's a real shame that so many things we enjoyed like putting a record or cd on the player and enjoying it are becoming obsolete. From what I can see on Utube there is much more choiice in the USA but here in Australia we are limited to so few companies who will stock these things.

Tbh, l could prob still grab most of my stuff on cd or from ebay but for me that's not the thing and you could go on using those l know.. And you can always change a car stereo but the main thing to me is cd's are out and whatever they use now is the future so if l can organize that, l'll be set.. Grab anything l want of the net and mostly for free plus often stuff could be hard tracking down on cd's now to so there's that, basically it should just be easier all round.
Mind you, l have 5 or 6cd's int he car l usually can't be bothered witht e phone and man, cd's are so nice . So simple. You know where all your tracks are l can leave one on repeat or anything else. l've gotta pull over find it hopefully it works when l take of again to repeat is just rubbish or forward, such a damn hassle and about as relaxing as a migraine.
