Hello to our wonderful forums community! We have decided to run an ongoing Big Blue Table thread ‘Forums Edition’ until the end of October! What is a Big Blue Table? Big Blue Table is Beyond Blue's signature event held during October, Mental Health Month. Big Blue Table encourages people host a meal with their friends, family or colleagues while fighting the stigma that surrounds mental health. So why are we running one here? The reason we are doing this is so people have an opportunity to connect with others and have the experience of sharing their thoughts and feelings over a meal, no matter where they are in Australia. We know Mental Health Month can be a vulnerable time for many and believe this thread could be a safe space for people to be heard and learn from others’ experiences. Our community champions will be here to support you along the way, and our moderation team will be around to answer any questions you may have, as well as to ensure the thread remains respectful and safe for everyone. We encourage you to choose from the following questions to start a conversation: What do you do to look after your mental health? Are you comfortable sharing your feelings and emotions? If not, why? What are you passionate about, and why? Who would be your dream Big Blue Table guest, and why? After you have shared your answers, we would love to hear about what you are eating or bringing to the table. You can even tell us a little bit about your setup and what you can see around you to really immerse us into your world. This is your opportunity to be as creative as you’d like! But remember, there is no pressure or ‘right’ response, whatever you bring to the table will be more than enough. We hope this thread allows you to feel connected, supported, and a part of the Big Blue Table initiative. Now… get cooking!

Hi everyone, This section of the forum is a little different to the others, as you may have noticed in looking around the threads. Elsewhere on the forums, we discuss some pretty heavy topics: mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns. Here is the place to come to get away from that and have a bit of fun. Distraction can be an important tool to draw on if you're finding yourself overwhelmed by distressing thoughts and feelings. As this is a section for respite from difficult topics, we will remove posts made in this section that attempt to discuss personal issues. Please use a support thread in the appropriate section for these discussions. Happy posting!

Mr Ploppy Last to post wins

This worked quite well on another forum site. It may float or sink on this one. We'll find out. Don't ask what you will win being the last to post, it will be something useless. But have a go anyway. I'm last to post so far. Am I a winner? View more

So my whole life has been depression and anxiety. Since I was a child I've been surrounded by it. Parents, grandparents, aunty's, uncles my siblings and then the last 15 years I've been fighting my own battle. But when I hit 30 2 years ago my battle became a full on war. Seeing my 8 year old suffer anxiety and procrastination is breaking my heart. So I finally have a goal in life and that is to fix myself so I can "break the cycle" because I feel that everything I say and do influences my children and I can't let it keep going for their sake. Probably sound ridiculous but I'm going to try

hi needing someone to talk to many of you probably are and have gone through what am going through below. was wondering how youd get a chance to tow caravans if you dont own one yet and wont for a while because of storage problems and wanting a old car soon as possible.am 36 as some of you may know by now (born in 1987) and only had one chance which was in august 2008 which is about 15 years ago and havent had a chance since and just want chance but car needs work.only family that have caravans that you can ask have bigger ones not rated for car to tow and like the car that have got and cant afford another just yet.car that have got now is probably capable of towing older or smaller caravans around 1500kg (with current tow bar) but it needs work, it needs new suspension bushes and shockers and needs the diff bushes done and thinking itll need a new power steering pump oneday and just the standard maintenance items that are due on a car with nearly 300,000km on clock and fixing it all when able to is only option currently.car that have got now is still good car always starts first go just needs a few jobs done and because of wanting old car soon as the van got to wait.would a furniture trailer be closest youll get to caravan if you hired a furniture trailer for a couple hours to just drive around and would people you know think youre moving out when its not true if they saw you driving around with it. a uncle is going in for cancer treatment and hes only one to think of that could give you a chance. the father might not be the one even though his caravan would probably be only one that the ford can tow. what would you do for now until you can get space big enough to store vans and also your own space. these days there isnt much different in cost between renting if you can find something and buying and with buying you can do what you want to place where as renting you're limited and why spend all that money in rent to not be able to do what you want. also can't yet afford another car with more towing capacity and keeping the ford going longer is the only option at moment. how do you get the money without doing the dodgy things your mothers medical practitioner in adelaide did. thanks

Something l've seriously wondered about my whole life.Personally l've usually used both through life in making decisions like the obvious logic and trying to be smart in choices but the heart too whenever possible. Some have been right and some have been wrong. Some have lead to good things and eventual happiness in that instance but others, not so much or not at all.l mean life has many decisions and choices that need to be made doesn't it. Some of them will be life changing , some of them just day to day stuff and everything in between. But l've always wondered if it could just be as simple as which one will make us and our loved ones if they're involved in it too ,happy ?lf any decision we need to make can be cut back to as simply , which one will make us happy , which one does the heart prefer ? Any thoughts, experiences, examples ?rx

Hi everyone, I'm TBR this idea of BB was given to me as a good step forward and after many thoughts and self-doubt about this, thought I'd give it a go to see where it leads and what I can give and get from these forums. The more tests I take about mental health the results all seem to point that some kind of help is required. I've already read some of your posts so know I'm not alone or a one off with how I feel. Have talked to a few professionals about my situation and they're supportive but until the situation is resolved I feel I'm on a one way street of depression and confusion as to what the future holds. Losing my job due to injury and all the consequences that can arise out of that is at times overwhelming. Hopefully once I learn how to use these forums, just chatting to likeminded people in a similar situation may help.

'Your mental health is just as important as your physical health' When I read this, I tend to disagree as I think to myself that one's mental health is more important than one's physical health. Why? It is important to protect your mental-wellbeing, to nurture your emotions and to look after your mind because your mind is what allows you to physically operate. To lift your pinky finger, to kick a ball, to look towards the right, to savour the smell of yummy food - basically anything and everything, your mind sends that signal so that you are able to physically operate. I urge each and every one of you to look after your mind, to practice self-care and to seek support!

Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe. This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends. When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel. Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like. Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free! To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!) Welcome friends.
