Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.

This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.

When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.

Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.

Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!

To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)

Welcome friends.

Hey Dottie, good luck in your first mid sem exam!!! I hated those. Like... why would you test us now? I only just started getting into the groove of attending class and not falling asleep! When does this busy period end?

Hey Tara, lovely quote and I'm really grateful that you've joined us on the forums 🙂 I hope school goes okay for you today. Almost at the end of semester!

Hi James,

Thanks! Exactly...mid sem exams are a pain! Had my first mid sem this week. Very worried that I did badly (sighs).

I had mistakenly believed that it would be more conceptual but it was heavily rote learning based. So I didn't learn the minute details (that we apparently needed to know!) Ugh...I'm hoping for some sort of academic miracle that I've done better than I think I have ha, ha.

Busy period ends in about 10 days (thank goodness!)

How has your day been?

Dottie

I wish I had more to report on but I don't, haha. Just been at work, plugging away very slowly. We had a fire drill and had to walk down lots of stairs which was not fun. I've been very bad around lots of people and noises recently so between the siren and the mass of people on the stairs, it wasn't great.

10 more days... you'll get there 🙂 what subjects are you taking at the moment? are you enjoying them?

Hi James,

I'm happy it's the end of Friday, as this morning I had to do a tiresome poster presentation at uni! haha
The mid-semester break is the week after next 🙂 Thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement! I do know now with certainty that I'm making the right personal choice.

I'm so glad you had a really great day on the 6th by the way 😄

I hope you're doing well, and have a nice weekend!

All the best,

SM

Hi Dottie,

I hope the rest of your mid-semester exams are going as smoothly as possible. You'll probably do better than you think 🙂

The postgrad session went well. I know what I have to do to apply, so I will get onto that when the application date comes around. I think I have a good chance of getting in. It's not quite as competitive as Honours, and the academics take into account your resume, academic transcript and a 500 word essay response about why you want to do the program.

I hope you can have some time for yourself this weekend, amid the busy period of study!

Best wishes,

SM

Hi Tara,

It's great to see you here again 🙂 I like that Atticus Finch quote! I read To Kill a Mockingbird in Year 10.
I'm so glad you find this social space supportive! We care about each other here - it's amazing how that can be achieved online.

I tend to mention the activities I do, rather than talk about my lazy hours at home 😛 I'm thankfully not as busy as some others I've met at uni. I'm studying full-time, but I don't have a part-time job and I also still live at home 🙂 My parents are interstate at the moment, which means I've spent a lot more time on chores for the past week! haha

Enjoy your weekend!

Best wishes,

SM

Hi James,

The fire drill sounds like it was overwhelming. Unfortunate timing that they did it when you weren't feeling your best.I hope you have finished work for the week.

Yes the 10 day count down ha, ha. I'm doing statistics, marketing, biopsych and developmental psych.

I probably like biopsych the most of all my current units. Marketing is okay but a little boring. Developmental bores me to tears most of the time. Stats is okay but the lecture content feels a bit dry at times ha, ha.

Let us know how the game goes tomorrow! 😊

Hi SM,

Thanks! Let's hope so 😉

I'm happy for you that the postgrad info session went well. It's great that you have familiarised yourself with the application process. All the best with it! We are rooting for you here!

Up to much this weekend?

Hey Dottie 🙂

Thank you for your kind words! Tomorrow during the day I'll do uni work, and then tomorrow night I'm going to watch basketball with my boyfriend, his sister and two others. Then I'll spend time with him after we get home from the game. On Sunday I'll probably tidy the house a bit, as my parents are coming back late that arvo from interstate 😛

Hope your Friday night is going well 🙂

All the best,

SM

Hi SM,

That sounds like a nice, balanced way to spend your Saturday- (uni) work and play. You and your parents will have a lot of catching up to do tomorrow! I hope they enjoyed being away (sorry, I'm assuming they were on holidays interstate?)

Thanks, I had an early Friday night. Up early today to study for another exam and to work on an assignment.

Enjoy the game tonight!

Speak soon,

Dottie
