Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.

This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.

When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.

Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.

Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!

To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)

Welcome friends.

Oh a lot of the unis are having their open days at the moment. Great to hear you found something that piques your interest. So you'll start straight on the postgrad?

I found it difficult going back to uni even after only 4 years. Just the mentality was so different. That said, I was much more disciplined this time around, haha!

Hi James,

I'll finish a Bachelor of Psychological Science in November this year, so I'll apply straight away for postgrad counselling for next year 🙂 I'm really keen to be a counsellor. My uni did actually have their open day a week or two back, though I didn't actually attend. I think it was more for prospective students.

I hope your day is going well 🙂

All the best,

SM

Oh that's super exciting! Last semester then! How are you liking the subjects this time around? It should be getting close to the mid-semester break I think?

I read what you wrote earlier about choosing the postgrad cousnelling vs psych honours and I also think you've made the right choice. My ex did honours in psych after doing her bachelor's in science and it was very heavy on the stats and research. Since I did a lot of that in my economics, I remember many nights trying to help with statistical techniques and understanding them, haha. Honours is a painful experience if you don't like stats!

My day is going wonderful! I had a shocker yesterday but today's been amazing. Just a matter of when I'll crash, but until then I'm going to enjoy not feeling bad at work. I might even leave on time today and buy myself a frozen coke.

Hi Dark_unicorn,

Thanks for all the caring and wonderful self care tips 😊 A bubble bath sure does sound relaxing!

You have awesome taste in music 😉 I'm glad you like Melanie Martinez's music too! I really like Pity Party. I like to play it on repeat if I'm having a woe-is-me day ha, ha.

Hope you're doing okay.

Speak soon,

Hi James,

That's fantastic to hear! I'm glad you had a good day. Think you really needed it. Did you end up leaving work on time and buying the frozen coke?

Hi SM,

Hopefully my post comes up this time (been trying and it hasn't been uploading properly).

I'm glad you seemed to have had a good weekend with your boyfriend, friend and family. You were one very busy person! I love ramen too btw!

How did the postgrad info session go? I take it went well as you want to apply for it next year. Very excited for you! 😊

Hope you have had a good week so far!

Hey Dottie,

Nah I didn't. I don't actually remember what I did anymore. My already bad memory's gotten worse, which I didn't think was possible haha.

I bought tickets to go see the AFL Swans vs GWS on Saturday arvo with two friends. Should be a good game and it's closish to home, so I can just go for a longer walk to get there, ~an hour, and not have to worry about traffic.

Hope your day is going well. Have you got a busy week?

Wow, you all seem so busy! I though I was stressed but my life seems half as full as yours 😛 Hope you are all doing ok mentally, here's a little quote I love:

'Life's a journey, to find the people weird like you.' - Atticus

I think I've found my people (although they aren't weird) .....on here! Thank you all for your support, advice and friendship. Very grateful!

Hi James,

All good ha, ha. Sometimes our days can become a bit of a blur. So maybe it reflects time passing too quickly rather than your memory 😉

The game sounds fun for you and your friends! I'm glad you're doing something nice over the weekend. Close to home is a bonus!

Yeah, I have a busy week. Uni assessments ha, ha. Long night tonight (& morning) as I cram for my first mid semester exam. Oh the joy (please note heavy sarcasm).

Speak soon.

Dottie

Hi Tara,

Thanks for the quote 😊 It made me smile.

Aw thanks Tara! And likewise! I really like coming back here and it does feel like a second home.

How were things today?
